• RE: Me Time!

On Youth Day, my less than 3 year old:

1. Undid his seatbelt and climbed into the drivers seat. I was taking his pram out and loading the groceries before noticing a resident walking past and waving cheerily at my car. Screaming as I tried to drag my kid away from the steering wheel. Luckily the keys were with me.

2. Can point to the wall clock and tell the time at the o’clock and half past marks.

We are all educated to different extent in different fields. Given my specialisation, I would like to share an old African parable.

A young farmer moves next door to an old one. The old farmer, being richer and with more land, decides to go over to the young farmer's land and burn it so it cannot produce .

The young farmer goes over to the old farmer and kills the old farmer's family. Who has won?

This parable is a reminder to practise safety hygiene even online. In real life we have social distancing. Online we have to make sure we do not open ourselves up to potential huge liabilities by using inflammatory language that can be construed as meaning to invoke harm to another's children. In certain Chinese business families, just the mere mention of bankruptcy can evoke stress.

We are all here for our children. It would be a pity of huge liabilities resulting from careless negative language causes us to be unable to care for our children in social or financial ways
:thankyou:

I really don't know and I am still thinking why one of my friends has given me up recently, maybe it is my fault, (我做得不够好), I am trying to improve my way of talking and better control my emotions in future. Hope the friend will forgive me.

Glad that you have enjoyed a lunch at town today. We are all here to support each others.
No lah it's probably nothing on your side. Most likely your friend is busy with something, or something came up in her life, and she has to attend to that first. She will most likely get back to you when she's more free.

Going to see the renovations today. They just finished the demolition. A lot of debris, so not bringing the kids. Will take the little one for his final immunization later. Then a hike to work out the weekday stress for the hubby.

I realized I am sharing less about my family too. You are always welcome to PM me.
Yes, you are correct, whenever my friends gave me up, I was very sad. 😢
Why would anyone give you up? You're a very nice person :snuggles:

I went to town today for lunch with my kid and some errands, dressed like a hobo. But my friend said, \"I cant believe you're wearing berms in the middle of the day!\" My toddler saw all these skyscrapers and said, \"很高!\" I took the chance to introduce the first 成语 to him... 人山人海 😂

Still scared sharing stories of my children. I'm scared people will see it as weakness and attract the wrong 'attention.'

Hi I would like to know your thoughts on this. Im staying in Jurong and and considering the distance will there be any slight chance for my girl to apply to RGS? I know I have big dreams. Lol
Odds are very poor in Phase 2C for more than 2km.

Aren't there good pri schools in Jurong, like Rulang and Shuqun?

Am thoroughly enjoying this ebook that I’ve just borrowed. Have not read fiction (instead of parenting books) in a long time:

The Latecomer by Jean Hanff Korelitz.
Enjoy your me time! I love American family epics. Reading a history of Paris, Seven Ages.

Hi everyone! We have just moved to <1km of RGPS, and wonder if <1km is almost guaranteed a slot, do we have a group chat for next year RGPS P1 girls yet? If yes, I will like to join. Good luck everyone! it's finally started. 😄
Hi! Other than a statistical blip in 2020 when SCs under 1km had to ballot for places in Phase 2C, RGPS looks like a shoo-in for SCs under 1km! It has otherwise never balloted for this group of homeowners. Good luck!

Regarding the part in light blue…when you are reading your book alone, does your extrovert child not come and want to talk to you? I have tried so many times to explain that I need my introvert time. Yet DS “needs” to come and talk to me about whatever he’s reading/watching. Then when I plead for some peace and quiet, he will point out that human interactions are his way of recharging so would I please let him tell me about it :frustrated:

The only time I can truly read in peace is while he’s in school (so glad June hols are over!) And from Sec 1 onwards, that will be longer hours so yay.
So nice u're a reader! In rare supply.

Agree w @slmkoo. Mom needs to put herself first with sufficient rest.

Here is a site on how to raise extroverts as an introvert:
https://www.verywellfamily.com/how-to-raise-an-extroverted-child-5199466

Ways I get my extroverted teen to leave me alone during school hols:
1. Give her lots of chances to play outside with friends who live nearby.
2. Have her play sport in a CCA that meets up during hols.
3. Increase her screen time by 1 hour (this always works, but maybe not for PSLE year!)
4. Close my room door, w a homemade sign: \"Mommy's Time.\"

Hope this helps! Hols are over, anyway, and I tend to read after the toddler sleeps!
