I heard from my son that his form teacher told that that there is only class A to H in P3. H is the best but he did not mentioned anything about rest of the classes. May be his form teacher did not communicate to the student. ๐Ÿ™‚

There is no real time monitoring. You view the daily updates in https://www.moe.gov.sg/admissions/primary-one-registration/vacancies after 7:30pm to 8pm for each registration day.

If you really need immediate update, you might want to call up the school to check.

It's best to wait for the school to inform you what is the brand and model supported for the PSLE exam. Even though http://www.seab.gov.sg/content/calculator/GuidelinesCalculators.pdf has the information published. I don't know how updated it is. I would rather wait for the school to recommend to the parents before I buy, just like the Chinese eDictionary. ๐Ÿ†’

All set for June holidays? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Tofu boy's tests are over. Other than some competitions and selection tests, we are done with term 2. Results have mostly been announced and I expect the rest to trickle in Over the next few days.

Do you find the papers tough? I don't. I suspect tofu boy's school is giving the students an easy time first (in p1 and p2), stream the kids according to ability and then go full force. Not confirmed, just my guess.

Have your kids been offered any cca (for those schools with cca starting in p3)? How do you guide your child in choosing the cca?
My DC school offers selected CCA when they are in P1. I went through with them each of the CCA by showing them the videos of other people performing the various dances, Wu Shu, musical instruments etc. For club, I just explain and show them some of the things that they will be learning or doing when they join the club. Let them decide themselves. I believe they would enjoy themselves and follow through with it when they choose it themselves.
Hi lostbunny and bunnybluey,

Thank you very much for the reply and info. Will be looking forward to the briefing. ๐Ÿ™‚

Fyi, briefing is this Sat, 9 Jan. For p1, starts at 10.45am.

I am disappointed to receive such important information through this forum. I share the same questions with many parents here like the coin phone availability, school tour etc

MBS is not a new school and I have high regards, possibly is there a change in management or pic of p1 orientation?

Anyway, looking forward to the briefing. Can I know what to expect this Saturday? :lovesite:
You might want to check with your child in the school. He/She should have receive a letter from the school publishing about all these detail. You need to read the letter in order to know the different timeslot to meet the Chinese and Form teacher.

Both my children get it on their first day of school.

      Hi Xueyan,

Same as Maths, I will introduce the concept using games. In fact, you can find out a lot of on the games when you search for it using google. Personally, I find private tuition too dry for a young kids and there is lack of communication with kids of their own age. If possible, you might want to change your style of coaching him using games. This might entice his interest and concentration? By the way, I'm also a FTWM but I will enforce that my elder kid take afternoon nap before I go back home in the evening. ๐Ÿ˜‚

      Hi Traceyt
May I know what games do you play with your kids? On-line games?

We do play Monopoly with him. Going to play Scrabble soon.

my ds' taste of food is very adult. He love rice. He doesn't like fast food, titbits. So it is hard to bring food for recess time.
I bake a lot. So whatever he brought to school are my bakes.
We gave his teacher home baked cookies for Teacher's Day. The teacher shared the cookies with his classmates. He told me that his classmates like the cookies very much. Can tell that he is happy.
Now tell me that he will bring cookies for recess time.

Thanks to all mummies for sharing your experience. At least I feel that he is normal.

      Hi Xueyan,

Mostly games that I brought from onlinestore such as \"Math Balancer\" for teaching of number bond, link cubes for teaching of maths concept etc. For Chinese, I brought them books that introduce them to the beauty of chinese characters in pictorial form. The is only 1 iPad game which I encourage them to play for chinese.

      Searchingyou:
I think we should have a lot and lots of patience dealing with kids..they need time to change..

as for my boy, he always lost his pencils and erasers.. I have been scolding like mad everytime I check his pencil case..Every night i told/remind him to make sure there are 10 pencils and eraser are in his pencil box to and from school.I will count EVERY NIGHT.. Finally he gets improved, he only lost 1 pencil for this whole week..

Same as his water bottle, he never fail to bring back his water bottle after I told him he will bring his brother's milk bottle to school if he lost / forgot to bring his bottle back.
      Hi SearchingYou,

I like the statement that he has to bring his brother's milk bottle to school if he lost/forget to bring his bottle back again. ๐Ÿ˜†

Luckily, I'm not your ds. :boogie:

      Hi Xueyan,

Why don't you try letting him select the snack or food to be bring to school? For me, I would bring my two kids to the bakery shop for them to choose what type of food to bring to school the next day and they normally finish off the food without any issue.

From the type of food that two kids choose, I can also see the different in the taste of the individual child. My ds likes anything with custard or strawberry while my son likes anything with chocolate or cookies. My two kids also tell me that they prefers cake that are not so creamy or messy. You might want to try and let your ds choose his own food?

I remember you have a post on whether to engage a private tutor when your son is in P1 as you find that the cost of engaging a private tutor is cheaper than enrichment program? If I were you, I must first tackle the root cause of the problem for English and Maths. I noticed that he is good in his Chinese Mother Tongue so I assume his main spoken language should be Mandarin at home. In this case, he needs to have more exposure to speak to others in English and read more English story books to increase his grammatical and vocabularies. You can start by playing games with him?

For my case, we have been speaking to my two kids in English since young because my husband is not able to speak Mandarin fluently. When I realise the problem when my ds is in K1, I started to speak to them in Mandarin even though they reply to me in English. I will read the Chinese Story Books to them until they start to learn \"Han Yu Pin Ying\". My dd has no problem with continuing to read Chinese Story Book but until now her first preference is still English story book. My ds is totally different, he refuses to speak to me in Mandarin or read any Chinese books. Knowing my ds character, I introduces him to a lot of Chinese related games and culture to instill his interest in Chinese such as playing Chinese Chess, Guessing Chinese Character using Iphone game \"็Œœๅญ—่พพไบบ\", tell him about the talented \"่ซธ่‘›ไบฎ\" to entice him to read \"ไธ‰ๅœ‹\" story book and introducing to him how character characters are derived using books such as https://www.google.com.sg/search?q=chineasy&biw=1366&bih=643&tbm=isch&imgil=OXyX90WJv11VXM%253A%253BCLAfx-bYg6JzDM%253Bhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fchineasy.org%25252F&source=iu&pf=m&fir=OXyX90WJv11VXM%253A%252CCLAfx-bYg6JzDM%252C_&dpr=1&usg=__8-BMIUp-fqdTgkfcIqUFS_oZq0k%3D&ved=0CDcQyjdqFQoTCPyT1MLS2ccCFckIjgod6-QDKw&ei=IZnnVbz_FMmRuATryY_YAg#imgrc=OXyX90WJv11VXM%3A&usg=__8-BMIUp-fqdTgkfcIqUFS_oZq0k%3D
