To add on: her unique \"voice\" should stand out, as she describes what her interests are, what kind of future she envisions. Anything that she has done/overcome will help her stand out, and since she's interested in business, something entrepreneurial, or insights from a PT job?
Ah. Makes sense. I will tell her. She is working now. PT job. Well, full time hours.

Just my 2c (I have zero experience with scholarship applications): her personal story is worth including into her personal essay/statement. After all, everyone is seeking to stand out from the rest; i doubt the interview board is looking for a typical cookie-cutter type of profile, but more for a unique individual who shows themselves worthy of the funding. So go ahead to “market” her resilience; i doubt it will hurt her chances.
Ya. I wrote something about her health. Deleted it. Think you saw it.

Ok got it. Thanks.

:congrats:

Your DD should have access to BrightSparks. If not, she should create an account (refer to the link below). Most of the scholarships are located there.

All the best.

Note:- Scholarships look beyond grades. There are successful non RP90 applicants even for the prestigious scholarships.
Thank you. The guide on how to write a personal essay is very informative. Appreciate!

Still waiting for anyone with info whether RP88.75 qualifies.

Also, if possible, advice on what to write in the Personal Essay, when applying.

Appreciate much.

Straits Times used to publish a Scholarship supplement in their hard copy every year in the period after A level results. But i think it is now in e-version online: https://www.scholarschoice.com.sg/

Other than exploring the above, would be good to speak to her JC’s career counsellor or ECG dept, whatever it’s called. Or CT tutor if need be.
This is good info.

Thanks zac's mum!

Scholarships are no longer awarded on grades alone. Depending on the scholarship, a certain level of grades will be expected, but I suspect (no actual knowledge) that there will be some flexibility for students who can demonstrate something \"extra\" - interests and abilities in something that may apply to the area of the scholarship/eventual career, or just some, possibly non-academic, personal factor that stands out. Her score is high, so I don't think she will be automatically excluded from any scholarship. H3s are not mandatory for scholarships, though they can be an indicator of ability and interest, and a scholarship is very popular and competitive, they can give an edge.

Rather than look for cut-off points for various scholarships (which you will not find, I expect), get her to look for a few where the eventual career interests her. For most scholarships, there will be interviews and, often, psychometric assessments. She will be able to project herself much better if she is interested in the area of study/work, and knows something about it. And it may be to her advantage to apply for something possibly less popular, but in her area of interest. All the best!
Hey slmkhoo, long time no see. Hope you are doing well.

Thanks for advice. She is keen on SMU business

Hi,

Don’t know if this is the right section to ask. Is anyone familiar with the RP score to get a scholarship?

My D2 came home last week with RP88.75. Quite unexpected. Not familiar with this. So we dunno whether she qualifies for a scholarship or not, and for which?

She has no H3.

Anyone knows where to find historical data?

For our generation maybe Facebook or linkin should help? A lot of old classmates were connected via Facebook.
Tried Facebook and Linkin. Cannot find. Hoping to get advice from St Margarets old girls.
