as far as what my DS know, first class are all gifted students. My estimation is at least 100 gifted students out of 170 intake. I stand to correct.

Last year test comprised both maths and science and questions are not easy at all, especially for science, your DC needs to have very general understand of physics, biology and chemistry. Both gifted and non gifted students are required to take this test, unless your DC is invited by NUSH for DSA. (I was told it did happen, don't quote me. )

For those non-gifted students, to get into NUSH is very very tough. There are less than 3 non-gifted students per class, out of 24 students. Furthermore, those gifted students are really good in either maths or science.

Another point for non-gifted students to take note is that, sorry to say that, most of those gifted students are kind of weird. You need to adapt to their behaviour and thinking. (at lease this is my DS's experience, however, he seems to enjoy their accompany! :? )

If your DC is selected for camp, last year was not tested in group, but individual, which is different from the past years.

3. We started during P6 in Feb 17 and ended Sep 17.My DD reaped a lot of benefits from the lesson. However, we are not a big fan of enrichment. This is the only enrichment stint DD had.
4. Depends on your strategy, your child strength and her current level. Under the T-score system, I would tend to agree languages matters more.

Not surprising. It depends on how strong the A* and A is. There is a wide range. In my DS class, 4A* - 267, 3A*1A - 269.[/quote]This is the issue with current system. If grading is by A*,A,B,C,D, then getting high As or low A* should not matter. What is the point of getting A* if in the end, those with more A ablt to have higher T-score. Marks for A* is definitely higher than A, even comparing lowest A* and highrest A, am I wrong?
For me,.the fairest way is add up the total marks, without any adjustment. This reflects the true score. BTW, under this system, my DS might get lower score, but show what? His svores are the reflection of how much hard works he had put in.

Exactly! We can criticise the tscore but it does have its merits.

Under the new AL banding, an all rounder getting 91% for all subjects means scoring 4 points (4 subjects AL1s) while scoring 90% for 4 subjects will mean 8 points (4 subjects AL2s), 8 points probably tier 2 or tier 3 schools.

Scoring 249 without any A* means all 4 subjects near A*!

Even my DS is in the top 10% (>252), I still don't think T-score system is fair.

Child with 3A* 1A is having lower T score than another child with 2A*2A? How and in what way, can this be fair? Every parents and students know that to get the extra one mark from 90 to 91 is \"seem so near, yet so far\".

Under new system, 3A*1A might be 5 points and 2A*2A is 6 points, which in my opinion, is fairer.
