      Hi pls help

      Ali left town A and travelled towards town B at speed of 90km/h.
      45min later, Muthu left town B and travelled town A at speed of 120km/h.
      Town X was halfway between town A and town B. Ali passed town X half an hour after Muthu had passed town X. Both speeds did not change throughout the journey. If Muthu reached town A at 2.45pm, at what time did Ali leave town A?

      Thanks!

      Hi

      points to note:
      1-> Distance travelled by Ali fro A to X (midpoint of AB)
      = Distance travelled by Muthu from B to X
      2-> Muthu took less time to travel from B to X --> 45 min + 30 min = 75 min less.

      Ali's speed : Muthu's speed = 90 : 120 --> 3 : 4
      Time ratio (of time taken by both to travel AX and BX) of
      Ali : Muthu --> 4u : 3u
      1u --> 75 min
      Time taken by Ali to travel from A to X = 4 x 75 min = 5h
      Total time taken by Ali to travel fro A to X = 10h
      10h before 2.45pm --> 4.45am
      Ali left at 4.45am

      cheers.

      Thanks so much! Appreciate it.

      Assuming that both start on the same day and then Sally was sick for 3 days. If they started on different day, the solution will be different.

      5 x 3 = 15 ---> Linda would bake 15 more cakes than Sally for the 3 days that Sally was sick.

      8 - 5 = 3 --> Sally bake 3 more cakes than Linda every day.
      To bake 12 cakes more than Linda, Sally will need to bake (12+15)= 27 more cakes --> 27/3 = 9 days

      Sally need to bake for 9 days to have 12 more cakes than Linda
      ie Sally bakes for 9 days, Linda bakes for 12 days.

      cheers.
      Thanks so much! You save my day! Nowsaday poor children have to face these mind cracking problems.

      Hi I need help,

      Linda could bake 5 cakes each day. Sally could bake 8 cakes each day. If Sally was sick for 3 days, how many days would she need to bake 12 more cakes than Linda?

      Thanks!
