No. My girl got into RV via DSA last year. She didn't take Higher Chinese in primary school.
Hi
If the child does not take Higher Chinese does it mean the child will not be able to apply River Valley through DSA?
Thanks -

I would recommend that she goes for private training and competes in the weekend leagues if her commitments allow. These additional training would help your girl to network and know more people outside of her school. My girl went for this year Basketball DSA trial and she highlighted that during team game it is difficult to receive passes from other girls because she is not familiar with them.
Hi I am looking for advice on DSA. Pls pardon me and point me to the right link if my post is in the wrong place .
My girl is P5 in 2024, plays basketball.
For the kids who have successfully DSA under bball, may I know if your child joins competitions outside of NSG. I am not sure if I should let my girl train under private club and competes in leagues outside as it is a lot of commitment on top of school training and school work with P5 being an important year .
Another question is anyone has DD who plays basketball in primary school but successfully DSA into netball? My girl’s current school has no netball. We are interested in SNGS but I saw that they have no bball team only netball. What are the chances that a kid without netball experience but bball experience can DSA successfully under netball?
Thank you all in advance . I am asking ahead because training under private club and competing in leagues outside NSG has to start earlier so I need to plan now since she is already P5 next year . Or perhaps we are even considered slow already 😑
Alot of girls at the trials know each other through their private academy or outside competitions. Therefore, the trialists tend to pass the ball to people who they are more familiar with or understand their usual drills. It is difficult to showcase your talent if you can't have the ball.
Beside the additional training and games will also provide her with more basketball experiences. Check your nearby CC and see whether they have basketball classes provide by ActiveSG basketball. They have twice weekly training - one weekday and one weekend. Private academies like SG Basketball, Proform, Academy 13 will also have training for various age groups. League matches are usually held on Sunday.
Do note that DSA commitments in Secondary school might even be more. Therefore, please make sure your child really like the sport. -
