      Hello Waynemum,

      Thanks for the explanation. πŸ™‚

Hm as I live in Tampines and I just got to know that there is a branch at Tampines CPF hence most likely will sign up at that branch.

Do you happen to know abt that place? If yes, do u have any comments of that place and the teachers?

      [quote=\"rainn_77\"]Hello Parents,

I'm intending to sign my dd at pasir ris CC. However what I dun understand is what the material cost is abt? Do we need to pay every month or term? What abt the diagnostic test, is it the test is based on the child's ability to determine which classes to go? Please advise.

Material fees is for the bag, plastic container to keep the tools needed for the book level . Usually 1 set of tools for 1set of level

Diagnostic test is to determine which book your child will start with. Every child progress is different therefore they need to order the right level of books for your kids. Diagnostic test is upon enrollment . Only when you very sure you want to enrol then they will let your child takes the test.

      At CC is $155/month

Between West Plaza n Pasir Ris cc , I prefer CC cos the place is newer and more spacious.

Hi, I have no idea on CPF building. The child don't have much interaction with other students or teacher as the child is required to work independently.
The moment they step into the class, they will go and retrieve their book and sit down to do. If the child needs assistance , the teacher will then explain as there's no instruction and the child needs to know how to do based on the example. Therefore to me, the teacher is just there to mark and give some guidance as all the kids in the class are at their own pace and level πŸ™‚

      Hi everyone,

I'm new to MPM & would like to get to know more about MPM's teaching concepts.
My son is in K2, currently with CMA. I thought CMA is very arithmetic driven, hence thought of switching him to another enrichment centre in preparation for Pri 1 next year.

I have a few questions & it will be much appreciated if you could share info with me.

      1. Does MPM teaches Math concepts according to MOE Syllabus?
      E.g. addition/ subtraction (carry forward/ borrowing) methods?

      2. Does MPM promotes creative thinking, problem solving, heuristic math?

      3. Any feedback on AMK MPM @ Djitsu Mall?

      Thanks!

      Hi,

MPM has been localized to MOE syllabus and they have number bonds as well.

MPM promotes critical thinking (some I don't even know how to do! Haha)
Problem solving, IQ question , analytical thinking etc.. I showed many of my friends and they are impressed with it.

Go to the nearest centre and request to take a look at the book πŸ™‚

      1) Foundation Class
      2) Normal Class
      3) Enrichment Class

The children will be well taken care of. No worries πŸ™‚

      Hi waynemum,

Have you decided where to enrol your kid?
By the way, how old is your kid?

I went for another preview at tampines but was told to enrol my 4.5years old son to Jelic program instead. She said she will only accept kids who are over 5 years old (mid k2) into MPM, is quite different practice with pasir ris centre, whereby the choice is up to parents.

I'm quite hesitant as I haven't decided yet. Any advice on this?

Hi, my son is P1.. I had decided on the Pasir Ris CC. The environment is better. Moreover it's monthly fees so if my son wants to drop out or for whatever reason , it's easier.

I'm also moving to Punggol soon and was expecting end of the year but seem like it's sooner than expected so just go to Pasir Ris cc

I think if the per recommend Jelic.. Why not? Kids should learn at their suitable pace then they will enjoy. My son is in P1 but he's starting from 2nd half of 1st semester as he's not very strong in what has been taught.

No point rushing. Building a strong foundation is more important than being on par with the age, peers or in advance.

Once the foundation is strong, it will be more easy n fun to love and learn Maths. Don't be pressure or influence by other kids progress.
Ask yourself 2 question. What is the main reason you want to enrol your child? What is the outcome you want to see?

For me is I hope my son can build strong foundation and love Maths n learn in a fun way n can think deeper or out of the box. All these r important skills. Most importantly a happy and confident child. I don expect immediate results as result is not everything πŸ™‚

The learning process is more important .

If your son can cope well, they will skip some modules.

I hope I can start my son earlier at 5..

      Hope it helps.

      Hi All,

I need some advice here. My son (K1) has been doing 3 books for every lessons since the start of the year. During his 1st lesson, he completed 2 books within 1 hr and I asked the school if they can let him do more? His lessons based on the MPM website is supposed to last for 2 hours ,thus I was out running errands so not near the vicinity of the school. Anyway, the school agreed and he has been doing 3 books but still clocking below 2 hours every since then. Just a few days ago, I've been informed that I have to pay for the \"extra\" books as my son is supposed to do only 2 books. Anyone has similar experience and can advise me on this? I was not told that I have to pay for the extra books as the website only states 2 hrs each week and I pay $155 for every 4 weeks. The back-dated books amount up to a significant figure. I've already paid for this month, but according to the new scheme, I still owe them.

      Advise needed, thanks!

      Hi Wind79

Your kid must be good to be able to finish so many books in 1 session!
Actually the trainer should have advised you earlier and you can decide whether to let your boy do 2 or 3 books

Generally the guideline is 8 sessions x 1hr and 8 books . So your kid will need to do 1/2 book as class work and 1/2 book as homework. If your kid can finish in 30 mins, he's free to go .. Likewise if he takes longer than an hr to finish 1/2 book, the trainer will not chase him away or hurry him.

The same theory applies to 4 session x 2hrs and it's 2 books per session and need to finish 1/2 book for each book and the rest for homework. Mummy can choose to pick the child earlier or let the kid stay till 2hrs to make use the money paid n let them complete the homework at home.

Bottom line: Classwork must be finish first n if complete earlier than stipulated time, the kid or parent can choose to let the kid stay longer.

I have not started my kid but I just went for briefing an hour ago and had asked the same question as I'm opting for 4 sessions x 2hr

Kumon works the same too.. The hours r just guidelines and it all depends on how fast ur kid can finish his work πŸ™‚

Hi waynemum, are you also staying in pasir ris? I have been to west plaza for e preview. Mpm Mathis does cover p1 moe syllabus and on top of that the kids will be able to learn different concept and can improve on their thinking skills.

Yes.. I'm staying in Pasir Ris as well and my preview is tonight. I'm not sure whether at CC or west plaza will be better. I'm looking at lower ratio per student although I understand the ratio is 1:8 .. But I will prefer smaller class ratio.

      Thanks for the assurance πŸ™‚

I’m still very confused whether to send my kid to MPM or normal tuition at Just Education Maths

He’s already in P1 and not too sure is it too late to enroll him? Seem like 5 years old is good age to start as to prepare for P1

Since already in P1, should just go for normal tuition which is in line with the school syllabus so that can score better for test or exams

MPM seem more like an enrichment and the kid already attend school for 5 days so it might be better to do something different as not to kill their interest.

Maybe proper maths tuition can come later at P3. Heuristic Maths seem good for P3 onwards

Anyway I will be going to MPM west plaza for briefing and find out more from the trainer.

    • RE: Punggol View Primary

Being a new school, the curriculum standard is not any lower than those established school

The program offered is fun and there's actually phonics classes incorporated into the timetable ( for 1 term ) to enhance the child literacy proficiency.

PAL program includes wushu, lego building and speech and drama

Most importantly , the school emphasized alot on good values our child shld have. Character building πŸ™‚

The teachers are very responsive and takes feedbacks from parents very seriously. That's very important as communication is very important

You can take a look at the website although some session still under construction .
