teachers are friendly. But personally i do not like the principal. She is more keen to close sales, i feel. Not sincere and unprofessional. When my kid informed her about withdrawal, she started to give my child cold shoulder. But that was some time ago, not sure if she has changed.

Augmum:
My 2 dd requested me to speak up on behalf of their teachers when the elder one read the earlier post.
For Econs (H2), 74% of Distinctions...zbear:
DHS's grades are improving each year, especially for Economics which someone previously (if I remember correctly) mentioned that DHS is not good in Economics.
So those who are keen to come to DHS, pls don't believe in hearsay but statistics.
As fas as I know, DHS Econs has been one of the top in Singapore for past few years. This year, they fared better than RI.
My elder dd (graduated 2 years ago) told me the subject itself is already very challenging as there are many jargons and diagrams which they are unfamiliar with & many readings to do. With the heavy CCA commitments and other academic demands, she & her friends tend to sacrifice \"Econs\" in Year 5 and spent more time revising other subjects instead. To her, it was unfair to blame the teachers when they struggled with the subject in Year 5. Overall, she felt that the teachers were very passionate and approachable for consultations throughout her 2 yrs of econs learning journey and was very grateful to their guidance until today.
My younger dd is in Y5 this year and taking Econs. She is not doing well for her Econs tests (failing in fact, like most of her friends). As a mum, I am very worried. But at least, she is not pointing fingers at anyone, knowing that this is her own fault as she has not been putting enough effort and using the correct study strategies.
If your child/niece/nephew is not doing well, it would be better if u can remind him/her to do some reflection rather than pushing the blame. Not only for Econs, but for all other subjects. Unfair to blame only on one party. Just my 2-cents worth. Please do not take offence.
