RE: To take unpaid leave in P5 or P6 for PSLE ?
Hi,
My 2 cents. YMMV.
Do watch PSLE GO video. Quite an interesting short film. (Search on YouTube)
My take: kids can sense it if the parents ‘suddenly’ take Long leave to focus on them for PSLE. It may add additional stress/pressure to the kids. Coz they indirectly feel the expectation from the parents.
If really need to choose between P5 and P6 to help kid, P5 would be better IMO. If the kid is trying DSA, P5 and P6 SA1 results will be important. By end of P5, the kid would have established their foundation in their studies. P6 is just finishing up the few topics left for Primary School syllabus. From experience, time will be shorter in P6. Can’t really do much already.
Hope this helps. All the best! -

Got it. Thx.
Guess you may need to check with the schools you applied to. Different school different practise.wkrf:
Hi,
A few years ago, my DS receive CO via snail mail. Is it the same for this year, or it can be via e-mail?
TIA.
Read somewhere that MOE is taking over the DSA process next year. Not sure what the ‘taking over’ means?
But hopefully the process will be more streamlined...

Well done!Dunno how to quote some people so here are my replies
sweetbaby, thanks. I wasn’t expecting any response cos I tot still need to go for interview.
wkrf, my son applied under ALP Robotics. He went for a selection trial during the last wk of Jul, received a first email 2 days later, to say that the tchrs n mgmt are pleased with his results fr the trial and he’s through. My first tot was ok interview next. The next email arrived during end Jul saying he has been selected and a CO will be given to him by 31 Aug. I asked if need interview, the tchr in charge said no need as he has chatted briefly with my son and the ALP Head who was present, concurred with his (the teacher IC) decision.
Hence a gf n colleagues questioned if this is legit. Even I was in doubt but I didn’t email the tchr IC further. Wait for CO by 31 Aug like what he said.
The key thing is the teacher has interacted w the kid.

Which domain?First time reading this thread. Didn’t plough thru the last 249 pages.
Can I please ask if anyone’s child here has received a CO, after going for selection trial, without going for interview? Is it true that some schools have already informed the selected students of their COs? Does this mean if u didn’t receive any email, u hv to wait until 31/8 to know if it’s a WL or rejected?
There must be an avenue for the Teachers to meet the kids, for the teacher to put the name down for CO, if I am not wrong.
For sports domain,
Trial - screening mainly by Coach and/or teacher.
Interview - screening by Teachers and/or School management.
Hope this helps. -

Hi,
RI Sports domain. Trial, will have more kids. Interview, has less kids. Think they choose from there. Not sure about other domains.
If the kid is superstar, then probably there are exceptions…
