you reminded me of such possible situation! Seems TJC is also popular, same level of risk. Let me rethink of it, thanks a lot !

Sorry, yymm03. My sincere apology

2018 Sec 1 MGS : the affliation Cut-off point was not 205, had been raised.

----------------------------------
phtthp, Thank you ! no worry, we went down to PLMGS Saturday for their open house and checked with teachers, you are correct that they give priority to affiliated students, so we may drop this choice.

By the way, in general, 2 points above last years COP, is it safe to get in? Fox example, last year school A with COP 250, we have 252 this year to apply this school, is it safe in general basis ? We just worry if the COP will raise by 3-4 points this year, because we have no visibility of the overall result for this year.

Any parent to share your view ? Thanks a lot !

No, it is very risky to just put PLMGS as your last choice #6. Can't recall which year, PLMGS was out of bound to Non-affliated pupils, from outside primary schools. That's why MOE start go impose the minimum 20 percent seats reserved for outside students, starting from 2019 batch next year. But implementation of this 20 percent start next year, not this year.

In the event PLMGS is full house this year, for her affliated pupils, then MOE will post your daughter to any nearby school near your house, that still has vacancies. But this school may not be what you want. Therefore, please add in another school to your last choice, and remove one of the schools, from your above list

PLMGS : 205, is the affliated score for their own girls, to go back affliated Secondary

205
Is a score, easily achievable by many students.

Hi, My DD scored 254+1, our choice is tentatively as below, the last 2 choices are safe to be posted ? Thanks for advice!

1, CHIJ St. Nicholas IP ( This is just for fighting only, most likely is meaningless )
2. Cedar Girls' IP ( risky, also for fighting)
3. CHIJ St. Nicholas O Level
4. S Chinese Girls IP
5. Cedar Girls' OLevel
6. PLMGS
-----
My concern is just that I put it too high, end up waste all choices, anybody know if the last choice is safe ? as I know PLMGS has affiliated school that normally take in more students from affiliated students. Thanks in advance !

• RE: DSA 2016

Oh My Gosh:
I heard for mainstreamers, DSA by academics is VERY VERY rare for popular schools? Reason being these schools was have no shortage of very smart students after the PSLE results are published? Any idea how many mainstreamers managed to get DSA by academics into branded schools?

For mainstreamers, it is a bit difficult to get into those \"popular\" schools by DSA thru academic, due to academic qualification, but it is not that difficult to the degree of \"VERY VERY rare\" . There are quite many mainstreamers got DSA CO from those good schools. Quite some good schools don't differentiate mainstreamer or gepers. However it is really difficult for one of the \" TOP\" school. One word, if your child is persistently excellent in studies and dreamed the school, just try it, don't group himself to be mainstreamer or gepper.

• RE: DSA 2016

Based on my own experiences, if the school is your child’s dream school, just try on it, no matter he/she can get it or not, will never regret.

But the story is different if you just try to DSA any school, if the school is not his dream one, you will be in dilemma "to accept" or "not to accept". Besides this, another consequence shld be considered - If your child score high in PSLE and able to get the dream school by S1 posting, while you already confirmed another school by DSA and no way to withdraw, you will feel painful. So be serious when making decision. The best way is to know your child well.

• RE: Eczema problems, Allergy & Rashes...Solutions...

Hi, anybody can kindly recommend a good experienced doctor for eczema in Singapore? either Western or traditional Chinese doctor. We have gone through quite many doctors, but only given all kinds of cream/ointment, never come across a doctor offering an internal treatment, like digestive system checking and improvement, which I believe is the big help for eczema. Thanks a lot !

berrymom:
I only use steroid cream v sparingly on my kid. The eczema was so bad that parts of his skin near the ankle now jus white ( u know scratch, bleed, healed , repeat scratch cycle again all these years).

But parents, please dun give up hope...maybe like my kid, one day it will be outgrown ( I didn't believe the doc back then too). Just before it finally stops after 8 long years, we feed him probiotics regularly to keep his guts healthy for a few months. I really believe that was what really works for his skin. Now his skin is silky smooth w/o any cream or diet. He doesn't even like to eat much fruits or vegetables still (unless I threaten him).

Dear Berrymom, I also trust Probiotics help Eczema problem, and I gave my child to take regularly recently. Just wondering if Probiotics is safe for long term intake, esp for a child at 10 yrs old ? How do u think ?
Hi Year 1 parents,

Has anyone of you tried to login into http://lss1.wiki.hci.edu.sg to get the LSS materials following the message by Mr Tan in EMB.

I tried to follow the login instructions (userid and password) but kept getting the error message \"We couldn't verify your username and password. Please double-check them and try again.\"

Appreciate any advice. Thanks!

I cant sign in too... 😓

In the end, I emailed the IT helpdesk and they gave me the ID (different from the instruction that was given i.e y16tudentFullName). Password remains your child BC in uppercase.
Hi Dear parents, I just tried to access the mentioned website, but even cannot load the web page, do you have the same problem? And is it for Mr.Tan's class only ? or for all Sec 1 students? As my DS's LSS teacher is different teacher. Kindly direct me, thanks a lot !
