        mummy so kiasu:
To take higher chinese in Sec 1, your child needs to be in the top 10% of PSLE cohort or at least a credit for higher Chinese if 11-30% of PSLE cohort is required.

??? How can the school tell the % of PSLE cohort of HMT?

I was just thinking if getting a merit for HMT during PSLE will entitle them to take HCL during Sec 1?

If I am not wrong, the PSLE result slip will indicate your child eligibility to take HCL. My son has a Merit in HCL and A in CL, last year PSLE. Yes, he is taking HCL in Sec1 now. Depending on the school, I assume there is some minimum requirements to continue with HCL in the upper Sec too. Also some requirements are needed too if the student takes only CL and wants to take HCL in the upper Sec. You will need to further check with the sec school to confirm that.

Does anyone knows what is the requirement of the additional 20marks for higher Chinese (HCL) composition in comparison to normal Chinese (CL) composition? The HCL composition is 70marks and the CL one is 50marks. Thanks.

Since no oral and listening compre fo HCL, the marks percentage for Compo and compre is much higher, that why HCL not easy to score.
As long as Compo have sufficient content and less grammar mistake, students able to get good marks for Compo in HCL.
Hope I had clear your doubt.
                Thanks
