Hi,
I entrolled my 9 yrs old child in the CMA recently. Yap, it really late for her to start now. I checked with the centre , they told me the speed of calculation might slow but to understand the concept will be much better as compare to the younger age. After much consideration, I decided to entrol her as I find she lost interest in doing assignment because she is slow in mental calculation. I hope abacus can improve her mental calculation therefore help her to speed up and gain confident while doing assignment. In addition, abacus train the right brain. -

Hi, my girl started CMA around 5+, now she is k2. I don't mean to test her, just ask her to do some of the primary 1 math questions to familiar with the question format. She is capable enough use her mental sum to calculate addition and subtraction. Hope she will use her skill on buying food when she admit to p1 next year.
In case you need for referral, Here is my girl's detail:
CMA branch: tampines
Child name: Letisha Deng
student No.: SG0060062
Pls let me know if you need more information.
Hi Amy,
My son will be going for the pre-entry assessment this friday.
If all's good, i will sign him up.
Is it going to be difficult?
My boy can write numbers well. Not too sure if can handle the abacus.
Yeah its a good idea to provide him w this skill.. have not really thought about him buying things on his own!
Thanks alot for your reference!

My girl is 6 now and she started the ICR at 4yr old and started from PRP( she really learn very well at this stage), she got promoted quite fast and get to the ICR Stage 1, I remember I have a hard time coaching her for the spelling, and early this year she completed the ICR Stage 2, and they introduce the PSLP program as they claim she is too young to start Creative writing.Tks ksmummy. Will probably bring my son to Kovan centre for assessment this Saturday morning.
My son is in K1 this year turning 5 next week. He seems to like mathematics so would like to send him and see whether he enjoys and benefit from it.
Currently he is attending I Can Read Stage 1 and Seimpi Encore music class.
He seems to enjoy both but will not automatically do reading or play the keyboard by himself.
For the I Can Read class, he was just promoted from PRP to I Can Read (Stage1) 2 months ago and the change is very drastic. PRP teaches them to try to blend a word and do writing as homework but I Can Read give spelling and comprehension with passages/stories to read . Getting stressful and looks like he is not ready for it. Might want to defer him to few months later.
Anyone got similar experience to advise ?
Tks,
JSC
The syllabus is much simpler than the ICR1 & 2 and not as tough as the ICR, when I question the centre in charge, they say they are moderating the syllabus, so seem that my girl become their trial. So I have decide to stop her cos I dun think that I should be paying $500 for 10 lesson and being their trial. very dissapointed with the school. -

Can someone advise whether is it better for twice a week lesson instead of once a week ?? not sure too stress for my boy (4years old) :? twice a week lesson seen like $80 cheaper than once a week..
Child Name : Glenn Ng
Branch : Bukit Panjang (Ten Miles Junction)
Serial No : SG0110060 -
Hi Glennmum,
Personally , I felt twice a week is better for younger kids (4yrs-6), as they can absorb better and learn faster. You can start by twice a week for him to get the concept and method, once he is accustomed to it, then consider change to one a week.
My son also attend CMA in late 3 yrs old⦠I do see great progress in him⦠before this he was using his fingers to count⦠now he can at least do it Mentally .
Anyone wants a referral can quote my sonβs name
