Hi mummies, I receive a PN for swimsafer programme for p3 pupils next year. Can I check ifthis is a compulsory programme and will there be any sort of swimming assessment later on for kids who dont take part and doesn't know how to swim? My boy doesn't like water and refused to take part in this programme.

      Hi,

You may want to consider letting your boy attend the lesson cos eventually, when they promote to sec sch, some sec sch will ask for the swimsafer cert (min level 4, equivalent to bronze) and if the child do not have the cert, he will have to attend compulsory swimming lessons. It is better to learn when they are younger now as it is less embarassing and they pick up skills faster.

        Hi Chemistry and iLoveChubby,

Thanks for the information. I spoke to my boy earlier and he doesnt want to go for the SwimSafer lessons. I actually thought its better for him to go for the lessons as he is young and it is a skill which he has to eventually take on as he will be serving the nation later on. But he doesnt want to go at all… I am also worried about the safety as he will be at the public pool area and we as parents wont be around to supervise him. Another alternative is for me to sign him up with my younger daughter and join in the private swimming lessons.

Thank you chemistry and minimin for the feedback. 🙂

DS is lucky enough to get the opportunity to experience the various roles and I observe that this has trained him to be more self confident and out-spoken. He used to be very shy. I am hoping my younger one will get the same opportunity next time but well, it is only possible if the selection is not purely base on academic results.

My child is in P2 and her form teacher is ok. Will feedback if my child forgot to do homework etc. She also provided us with her hp no and email so that we can contact her anytime. So far, i'm do not feel negative with her form teacher. However, her chinese teacher is not very good. Always MC or away on CCA. Yet, when she is around, she can still run thru the syllabus very fast and gave the class free time. I really doubt how much she taught the class, and luckily my child is attending chinese tuition at a reputable enrichment centre.

The chinese teacher who is Dy Subject Head (Cai Huimin) is very good though. I have seen her leading kids on excursions and she is very detailed and explains the learning points very well. Wish she was my child's chinese teacher!

Only know that there is no more AS until next term....

                        Thanks kin!

I went to check the school website, seems like science CA is on 30 Aug now. The PN sent earlier this year actually indicated 2 sep. They changed the date?
