I'm not sure if this works for everyone, but i tell my kids this is one of the many exams you have to take in your life. it is not a make or break event in your life. Don't make such a big deal of it. Life still goes on no matter what. Just do your best and let God do the rest. Ultimately we don't look for the results as we believe that is God's problem. 😉 As parents we look for the kind of effort they put in.

:goodpost: Very well said, zeemimi! I super agree. The success of education lies not in outperformance or underperformance in one exam, but in the learning process, and the continued delight and desire of the child to thirst for knowledge.

Please remind your children to write legibly on the exam papers. Remember the exam markers have to mark so many scripts. If the handwriting is untidy, please tell the child to write neater.

I don’t think it’s up to you to choose to go sec school or remain in pri school. You can only remain in primary school if you get U grade for certain subjects, just like you don’t get to choose to go Normal stream if you get a certain t-score.

                All parents alert:

Do you think doing past year papers at this juncture is beneficial for the child? Ordered 2013 Prelim Papers from Jeremy for dd to do. I don’t know if she can finish though

Also do you think it’s necessary to start Sec 1 preparatory tuition classes at this point?
Her current tuition centre is already asking if we want to continue!

Too near PSLE now & languages take time to see results. Luckily it is still T score system, hope she does well in the rest of the subjects. My son is in Sec 1 now. His weakest subject is Chinese too. Luckily he is strong in Maths & Science.

Actually no point rushing through more prelim papers unless she has someone who can go through with her. She should revisit the papers which she has done instead of doing more. Revise to make sure she still remembers.

As for Sec 1 preparatory class, just put it aside first. Getting through PSLE well is way more important now.
I think he is immature. Given the workload at sec sch, I dun think he will be able to cope well. Just take it like he is repeating another year of pri sch?

He may grow up in the next few months. Anyway, not having him in school could be worse. In any case, there is no major exam for another 4 yrs.

                        Daily work...continual assessments...
But they can be treated as learning opportunities - they don't really count for much.
