vlim, for pri sch, think not so bad, as the sch \"recognise\" ballet as a CCA even if u take fr outside......yup same here. ...this morning my girl has to attend an extra weekday ballet lesson in preparation for the exam in april...
so........quite unlikely she is able to take up another cca in school ..
(but some pri schs don't, u still need another CCA organised by the sch)
but for sec, no way out........
and it is a norm to have 2 practices a wk for the 1 st term b4 the exam every year........ -
just wonder if my gal still doing ballet in sec…how is she going to squeeze in one or two more days for school cca…probably got to give up ballet…

Do International Dance in school.
And by the time she's in secondary school, ballet lessons will be AT LEAST twice a week.

Hi Augmum,hi turquoise
long time din chat with u........
i am surprised too when she said that she was asked to do a dance.
she did a dance so called \"choreographed\" herself, half way thru...
she couldn't remember the steps....then the usual....\"OK....can stop here\".....so u know what they means.....haha
regarding abt what CCA, results not known yet
the pupils are supposed to choose2 PA and 2 UG
if neither of the PA is selected, she'll push to the UG...
remember the last time, i was saying that in RGS,
CCA is kinda of they choosing u, rather than u choosing one that u have passion in it......
now in DHS, same thing happens..... sigh!!!
I guess that happens in a lot of secondary schools. I'll carry on this conversation with you in the Dunman High thread. -

hi Augmum, turquoise,
\"CCA is kinda of they choosing u, rather than u choosing one that u have passion in it...... \" This is so true also in dd's school. I guess as turquoise mentioned, it happens in many sec school. But what to do ... this is life. I feel kinda of sad for those kids being push to UG and sometimes, they are being so called \"not good in anything\". But some kids are strong in mind, they would still give their best.

No, carry on with ballet outside in primary school. And if she's still passionate about dance in secondary school, she should continue with ballet outside but pursue international dance in school as CCA as the extra coaching she has outside will benefit her in her CCA. -

Yes, it's sad that UGs have the unforunate label and some kids end up miserable in it. They just have to learn to make the best of it.hi Augmum, turquoise,

for ‘dance’ CCA, when it comes to SYF competition, the practices can be up to 4 times a week all the way, plus some days in Dec holidays also must go back…but one thing good is that the girls will end up very conscious of their body figure and watching their diet all the time, and become physically fit as some of the dance routines are quite demanding

oh yes, nowadays, the kids CCA is not for recreation, some even \"being forced to \" (like to UG)
unlike our old times, we could join whatever we have passion in and we were allowed to change CCA throughout the 4 yrs in sec sch.....so nice......
