90+ is extremely good for p5 leh.

DS2 got 95.. Seems like this year's paper was not as difficult as past years' papers.. Quite a number of the boys got 100..

For the first time, DS2 got an award - Best Improvement Award ! πŸ˜„

DS2's languages are in the 70s range, though..

Keep it up - this kind of performance - good potential for A* for PSLE. Even for PSLE prelims (my son's year, there were 3 prelims?)...quite a number of boys got 100marks, including my son's class...and his was like the 4th Non-GEP class? Means that their is just the best non-HCL class lah. So all quite good in math/science but horrid in chinese.

Firefly38, thanks. Hopefully he will do as well in P3. My girl (P6 this year) did well in P1 and P2 but started failing from P3. πŸ˜„

Alie, see you in 2014 πŸ˜‰

Bigfoot, my son's teacher informed us (in his report book) that he is promoted to 3 Kindness. Maybe you can check with his classmates' parents? The class allocation should be out.

To comment on your posting... to me going into top class is not that important. Most importantly is that he can cope and understand what are being taught in school. πŸ˜‰ As for mixed ability classes, not all students (and parents) are alright with the idea. My personal experience, my girl is a below average student (hopefully she will pass her PSLE). During a 'meet the teachers session', parents complained that weaker students in the class is slowing down the progress of better students as the teacher has to slowing his pace. You may be right, teachers are trained to conduct differentiated lessons within the class but in reality I'm not sure if that is possible. The weaker students may have problem following the lesson. My girl will be one of them πŸ˜‰

The problem comes when they are not allocated the suitable teachers. And the attitude and aspirations of their fellow classmates. It may not be too positive, that's all. I've seen it happen with my eldest. Thankfully out of the school system already.

            Hi All,

This coming Saturday is the Orientation day for P1 kids.
Can I get some info from the parents here, what should I look out for?
Btw, I have ordered DS books through email. But what about the uniforms?

            Thanks so much in advance!!

Just attended CHS prize giving day and was glad that the school principal is of the same view as me that they shouldn't put all the good students in the same class. So, not just for P4, I believe all other levels as well. While I do agree that not all teachers may find it easy to teach, they also should not take the easy way out. Likewise for parents, you should not blame the not so ready children for hindering your child's learning. I mean, we can't control the environment for our kids all the time. Having said this, I do respect if your view is different. I think there is no right or wrong. It is just a matter of different view.

Anyway, school is out for now. Enjoy your time with your DS! For me, I am looking forward to the year end holidays! Cheers! πŸ™‚

Was at the P1-P5 Prize-Giving Ceremony this evening..

Mr Lee announced that there will be NO Top class (all levels) from next year onwards. All classes will be 'mixed', consisting of academically strong & weak students..

Mr Lee shared a meaningful story about a colorful fish, sharing its colorful scales with the other fishes which had no colorful scales. He reminded the prize-winners to stay humble, and urged them to help their weaker peers from the same class. He said \"It is only when you share with others that you will be happy and bring happiness to others as well\"..

So.. It's official ! Parents don't need to stress their boys to go into the Top class from now on.. πŸ˜„

                  Any parents there too ?
