Yeah u're right laughingcat, i guess have to be flexible and do it our own way. coz i tried out the GD method (5 sets, 3 sessions for each set), i realised that its hard for me to complete total of 15 sessions in a day.. and instead of juz flashing 5 cards per session, i find that i could actually go on with more sets at the same time, rather than spread thru out the day. coz my son seems to enjoy each session but they were way too fast and short with juz 5 cards and then i waste the day away in the end also, coz i can't complete all sessions in a day
After you are almost done with the flashcards, you should move on to books. Books that are following the similar concept. Simple sentences in big font and photos on the following page (not same page as the words). The Dolman book recommends that parents make simple books that relate to the Baby's Life. Eg. a book on \"My Family\", can show photos of various members of the family...like \"This is my father.\"(1st page), followed by real-life photo of father(2nd page), then \"This is my mother\"(3rd page)....photo of mum(4th page), \"She is my grandmother\".(5th page),....photo of granny(6th page), and so on...

there will be many many books you can make for your child to help reinforce his learning. Themes for books like:
      - My House
      - My School
      - Trip to the Zoo
      - Trip to the Botanic Gardens
      - I love Swimming
      - Going to the Playground
      - Bus Ride
      - MRT Trains
etc, etc...whichever is your child's favourite subject will give him greater interest in reading , especially when he sees the real-life photos. Even better if he's in the photos! And it'd enhance his reading progress.

        Brainkid:

It cost about $600++ for each Language (English, Chinese, Malay)...Maths also about the same price.

Wah, S$600++? That's so many times more expensive than the WinktoLearn Chinese and English that I used for my son with great success. Real photos with big words on flashcards that are already automated in the DVD.

        Hi Phankao,

        being a kiasu shopaholic mum,
I got to say the cheapest flashcard source is http://www.winktolearn.com DVDs and subscribe to http://www.rightbraineducationshop.com e-library.

Winktolearn have a lot of DVD languages and rightbraineducationshop have a lot of flashcard topics.

I find these are the best choices...

          Hi,

I just purchased a pre-loved Glenn Doman English kit and reading the How to teach your baby to read book. I'm a little confused on the instruction on what to do after day 3.

1)In the book it says: 'Your child first 3 sets have already been seen for a week so you may now begin to take out an old word in each set and put in a new one each day. Five days from now, retire an old word from each of the two sets you have just added in.' (What does it mean by the two sets? Is it refering to the 4th word set and 5th word set?)

          2) Then further down the page it says' When this system is working smoothly, gradually add a fourth set of words then a fifth set of words to your daily program.' (This is where I don't understand, so when should I be adding these 2 new word sets? Cos the above point says that five days from now, but this point says when the system is working smoothly.)

For parents who are using GD flashcards, could you help to clarify?

It will be helpful if you can share on what to do on the 3rd day onwards.

          Thanks in advance.

            Hi Pekkie33,

I hope you have figured out what the instruction says.

I send my kid to Shichida Method.

And from what I know Glenn Doman and Shichida uses right brain training methods.

Both schools encourages parents to expose more flash cards to their babies.

So, perhaps you should look for / or expose yourself to more resources of materials.

You could take a look at http://www.rightbraineducationshop.com,

            or their video - http://youtu.be/9k6_4emRCs8

                Hi Laughingcat,

May I know what types of photomemory games u played with your child? I tried to introduce English and Maths flashcards to my 5month old baby but he's not interested 😞 Not sure how to proceed.
