Hello! Joined KSP on the early morning of the first day of CNY hoping to learn how to manage my own kiasuness this year of the tiger. πŸ˜‰

Have two kids: girl in k2 and boy in P2.
My kids have been learning both violin and piano and I do not know how to proceed now that they are having less time for each instrument due to school work .... Any advice?

Violin or piano? That's a tough call. The $64K question is: Do you want your kids to choose based on their own preferences or do you want to create another opportunity for their livelihood? I know that in orchestras they employ a lot of violinists but hardly any pianist. But of course the counter argument is that there appears to be more demand for piano teachers. And it's extremely, extremely difficult to qualify as a professional musician. There can only be one Lang Lang for every generation of musicians, haha.

My friend's son has diplomas in performance and teaching (piano) and won some prizes in competitions but he's only able to get some work in hotel lounges in the nite. Having said that, he's still very young and this is just a sideline for him.

If it's solely up to me. I guess I'll choose the instrument that sounds nicest to moi ears  That's why I will be horrified if one day my DS drops piano to take up drums πŸ™

Wow! Thank you for all the welcoming banners, I am overwhelmed.
                  Thanks markfch.
It was out of fun that I started them learning both instruments. Piano I knew how to play and it's fun playing together with them. Violin is something I'd always wanted to learn since young so I thought I could learn with them (ahem, they are better than me now! hee)
Now, they refused to give up either and it's bankrupting me!
It's not difficult to get them to practise but sometimes, we just only have 24 hours and it pains my pocket to go to the next class without making much progress.
