Pat's Schoolhouse
-
Hi Busymom,
thanks for yr insight
Looks like our DDs could be classmates
Its ironical how i want my DD to develop at her own pace (no stress etc) and yet worried abt her not catching up in pri school :?
I do appreciate PATs however, for encouraging creativity in their students.
The toilet rolls and all those that we deem as \"rubbish\" is definitely put to good use by my DD during those creative spurts at home

My dd started with Pat’s Katong in K1 and is now in P1. She seems to be adjusting well and loves school. I was a little worried initially that she might struggle in P1 (given that the last quarter was virtually spent rehearsing for the graduation concert) but so far the work she brings home looks pretty simple, stuff she’s probably covered in K2, and she does well in spelling / ting xie / math.
She had a very dedicated teacher at Pat’s who followed her class through from Nursery right up to K2. They inadvertently call her mum at times!
Very caring and nurturing environment and parents get to meet often and exchange insights at birthday parties. The only "con" perhaps was that her class grew quite big (a little over 20) as the principal obviously felt the same about this teacher’s abilities and loaded her with the newer students. Pat’s kids generally turn out confident and articulate and should have no problems adjusting in any environment and coping with schoolwork. -
hi there,
are there any parents who did not send their kids to baby haven and are still able to put their 3year olds to pat’s schoolhouse at halifax? i have visited them last week and one of the teachers said it will be tough to get in if i did not put my kid to baby haven, even on waitlist…
any parents with kids in pat’s at jubilee, would like to hear from you on the teachers there. -
Hi sparkie0409,
my DD entered PATS Halifax only at Playgroup 3 years back.
So did another parent. Rest of class were fm baby haven.
But i placed her in queue close to a year, which was not because there was a long queue but because I hv already narrowed down to this school due logistical reasons. -
thanks, tinkerbell… nice to know that you managed to put ur DD to Pat’s at halifax even without her going to baby haven…

I think we all do... blame it on the system or just us parents for aggravating the kiasuism...Its ironical how i want my DD to develop at her own pace (no stress etc) and yet worried abt her not catching up in pri school :?

That could be 3 years ago though. I heard that this year, some kids from baby haven couldn't even get into Halifax  Maybe they were late in submitting the enrolment form, or maybe they don't have an older sibling in halifax to get the priority. -
wow... that's bad. Thank goodness i don't hv this issue then.
Otherwise wouldn't be on this thread  -

Huh??? puzzle me.........

U mean the kid must be from baby haven before he/she can enrol in Pat’s Halifax branch ??
or he/she must have a sibling there in order to get the priority……..
wow…….pat’s so good business arhh despite its high school fees
I din face such problem when my gal was there 6-7 years ago…….. -
I don’t think there is such a requirement that you must be from Baby Haven to go to Halifax.
Having said that, the school will give priority to those with siblings already in Halifax or are existing students in baby haven. Apparently, there were not enough vacancies to cater to everyone this year (or maybe in recent years?!) that some of the children from baby haven progressing to playgroup had to go to other branches. Naturally those with older siblings in Halifax will have priority over those who don’t as the school would want to minimise logistics issue for the parents (e.g. 1 kid in Halifax and another kid in Buckley).
We heard this from someone in the school. Exactly how many students were affected by this, I’m not sure. My guess is, baby haven has also expanded quite a bit (higher intake) in the last couple of years.
Anyway, for parents planning to send their children to Halifax, no harm putting your child’s name on the waitlist way in advance just to play safe loh…
