Hi, regarding the coming PMT, is it necessary to meet all the subj teachers? My gal sed that her FT told them that it is not necessary, just meet the FT will do.

      Is that true?

      Thks
You don't have to meet all the subject teachers. For me, I usually meet those teachers that my DD is weak in. The rest, I will just email them.

Its not easy to DSA St Nick thru sports. If I didn’t remember wrongly only 18 vacancy, so if your child is not one of school team or National team, chances are low.

My DD is from neighbourhood school, scored 85% in her recent SA1. She's in sch team for her CCA sports and her sch competed in sch national last year but didn't make it to the final, I would think it's the same for this year.

She had bronze for NMOP last year and silver for SMOP this year. Which will give her a better chance to enter DSA? Academic or Sports?

Say, if she accepted DSA O level (either academic or sports) and did well in PSLE, would she be able to appeal for IP?

              Many thanks

Congrats to yr DD for her achievement in the Academics and Sports domain.
FYI, DSA to academic is for IP route while DSA Sports is for O level track.
Depends on yr child's passion for the particular Sport she is in and very imptly the suitability of an IP education.
Go for the DSA Talk in SNG.
It may help you to decide which route to choose for your child.

From what I know, once accepted and agreed to take up which ever route via DSA, MOE said cant change.
But if your child does very well at end of Sec 1/2 exam in O level track, can apply to IP track.

                  .
There is DSA via Sports, for O level.
                  This is correct.

But there isn't any DSA-IP, via individual academic subject
(be it Maths, Science, English, Chinese) for IP.
Because students only enter by one route only, for academic into St Nick Secondary IP pgm : that is, by PSLE score.

                  Eg (last year 2013)
Those scored 255 and above, entered Sec 1 IP pgm.

There is DSA for IP route.
Yes, you are correct, in saying there is DSA for IP route -
but it is not based on individual academic subject, like English, Maths, Science.
Because it is based on overall.

What is academic DSA, or how do you define academic DSA, in the first case ?
                        (Note :
Not referring to Sports DSA, because Sports DSA is totally another different road)

                        Academic DSA means -
even before your child from primary school sit for PSLE starting August, the Secondary school already offer her a place -
based on a particular academic subject the child is very strong in.
Eg : is it Science, Maths, English ?

                        Example
Your dd excel in Maths in her primary school (rep school in Maths olympaid, ther Maths competition, etc) : so she come in, based on Maths subject, or

Your dd excel in Science in primary school (she represent her school in Science olympaid competition & won 😞 so she enter school first before she even Sit for PSLE, based on Science subject, or

Your dd excel in English, Literature, poetry, story telling, etc (she won competition before) : so she enter school first, based on English subject.

I just spoke to your school Tr, 5 minutes ago.

She had confirmed over phone that -
This DSA (academic) is not based on any partucular, individual subject.
She replied No, students do not get DSA offer based on any academic subject.
She said perhaps the only subject is Higher Mother Tongue (Higher Chinese) may have.
Being a SAP school, only mother tongue is Chinese.
But not for English, Maths, Science.

This tr said DSA-IP offer, is based on overall.
But not focus on any specific subject like English, Maths, Science.
No, this Secondary school don't have.
                        (For above 3 mentioned subjects)

However, other Secondary schools do offer academic DSA, based on one particular subject the child is particularly strong in.
