NHHS sucks lah.

The school only achieved band 1 because of the 30+ PRC scholars.
Without them, only about less than 10 local people are in the top listed on the website, and fyi, about 5 of them are PRs only.
Besides, in 2006 (my batch), NH is supposed to have the highest COP in history, 249. It is no surprise for them to maintain a band 1. As for me, with 256+2, I still did not make it on the list even though I also got into Hwa Chong.
My point is–those who got on the list are people getting 271 and 265+. They are in my class, I know. If you know people who got 240+ and are in nanhua, their chances of getting L1R5 at least 7 is not high at all.

You're an ex-student of Nan Hua and it startles me to know that you have such negative feelings towards your alma-mater, as evident from your opening sentence.

Undeniably, it is a common phenomenon across the board in all schools and there's no escape from it. Even the top student for the past 2 'O' Levels are Malaysians.

The picture painted may be a facade but I believe it is commonplace in almost all schools in Singapore. Even though I am not a proponent of \"foreign talent\", I still believe that due credit must still be given as a whole. By saying that the chances of people who got 240+ are not well placed to get a good L1R5, it is a slippery slope. Maybe you'd agree that in every case, there's always an exception.

I’m sure many people would be angry that I hate my school, but i really do. I usually don’t hate places, but this is REALLY, REALLY an exception, believe me. Let me explain.

I called NHHS the Nine levels of Hell. Reason? Well, aside from the ugly uniform and tie-plaits thingy and the expensive but awful canteen food, the teachers suck. They can’t teach at all. Good teachers are all transferred to be principals or HODs in other schools. NHHS organise a lot of useless, time-wasting events instead of actually teaching. So much so that towards o levels, we barely got time to do any TYS despite our teachers having made us order them. Plus, teachers just read from textbook, they don’t know how to teach. Hard questions they have no idea how to answer, but my tuition teachers do.
NHHS is also a very sick school. A lot of my classmates went from guai kia to paikia. My friend got 252 for PSLE, got slipped into the worser class, and is now in poly. They always behave very gangster-like. Girls and guys make sick jokes and are biased towards indians, mainly because we are SAP school. But everyday you’d hear racist comments. And I hated nh because I also got no friends there. People just seemed to hate me because I’m a bit heavier (translation->really a bit only. I’m 120% for the H and W thingy, just borderline overweight). I don’t weigh like a 100 kg. But still, nobody wants to be in my group for PW, and no one to play with in PE, that’s why I really hated NH. In my Primary school nothing like this ever happens. NH is just freaking mean–you’re popular if you’re skinny. If you’re smart, then stick with the smart people.
I can guarantee you that in 2009, nobody who got 240+ ended up with 8 or more A1s. Maybe in 2006 got, but definitely not 2009.

Serafiel, I personally don't hate you on those remarks you made on your old school. I simply feel sorry for you. And as a parent, I would also feel sad in the way you felt so strongly abt your old sch. I trust that most parents though 'gan chiong' on our children academic grades, but we are even more concerned over the emotional and mental health of our children. That's why I feel sorry and sad over how u actually felt abt yr sch, it pains me a lot if I were to know my child were so unhappy in sch, a place where she spends most of her waken hours. I would wish my children to be happy and get along well with others in school, this is definetly top of the list among other things. Nevertheless, you r now pursuing higher education in another sch, be positive and cherish your sch life (I missed my old sch days and thought that I should have done more and enjoyed those days). I wish you happy :lol:

Haha, don't feel sorry for me. My parents have no idea that I hate NH that much. I wanted to go other schools like SCGS but because NH is so near I'm forced to go there. My parents don't really care about my mental health, and I'm now really happy in Hwa chong as I've got lots of friends there. Even some guys became my friends, though there's still those I hate as well, but not as many as in NH. Whenever I get emo about NH, I'll just cry znd then go back to studying. This bad experience has actually make me more resilient and stronger to adversity. And actually I liked my CCA and third lang class.

Serafiel, glad to know you r happy in your current sch - a prestigous sch huh, well done on your o level. Whenever my children use the word ‘hate’ I would suggest them to use another word, ie ‘dislike’ as the earlier is a very strong negative word. Well, there is many kinds of human souls in life. We cannot expect everyone to behave alike, can we? As till now, I always TRY to remind myself and people around me that whenever we see good kind souls, we learn from them. On the other hand, for sure we will also see and encounter less desired behavious around us, but we take these as mirrors and reflections. Stay positive is vital to being happy.

hello to all parents. it's been some time since last log in. How r yr DD/DS the Nanhuarians doing in sch?


I am glad that my DD is enjoying sch and she looked forward to resume sch in the 1-wk break last week. She is very busy with CCA as they are competitions fr time to time. Relief that she continues to find sch interesting and happy with what she is doing. hope she doesn't get too stress juggling cca and studies

any parents know is there SA1 for sec 1? not sure how many exams are there in a yr. The CA1 results were actually recorded in the report book. DD pri sch CA1 was not recorded, it was meant to for diagnostic purpose only.

No SA1 for Sec 1.

According to the school calendar, there is Mid Year Exam for Sec 3.
