Mindstretcher - Discussion
-
Hi one of my twin is a high achiever - I have 2 options to choose from; put him at TAS P3 level (even though he is P2 next year). Or put him in Mindstretcher HA classes. Both are admitting him.
Anyone who has experienced in both TAS n MS…which is better in English?
And how do they teach English? -
Hi,
Just to share my experience visiting mind stretcher BUKIT panjang
Yesterday . I originally had the intention to enroll
My child in their p3 science program and have asked if I could look at their materiałs
The admin gladly handed me a thick file and I flipped through the topic on "magnets" and spotted a blatant error in their notes which says "dissimilar poles repel". I showed this to the two admins at the counter and they were surprised
I have asked if they QC their notes before giving the students and was told
The teacher in charge will let the students know if there’s mistakes in the notes
I asked why isn’t this error corrected prior to printing or even displaying as a viewing copy for interested parties ? No answer
I went on to ask about the "structured model question and answers " section which was part of their materials given as far as I am aware and realized this section was missing fr the magnets topic . The admin explained that some parents feedbacked that the model answers are different from what their respective Sch taught so they remove it … I went on to flip through other chapters and saw that there’s structured model question and answers in the other topics such as cycles . So I asked again why the inconsistencies and the admin was not sure .
Back to the topic on magnets , I realize the notes didn’t cover an important point abt how to identify if an object is a magnet . I asked the admin if they have someone in the center that I could clarify with and was asked to leave down my number for someone to call me back .
I flipped through the junior Einstein experiment sheets and found a topic on "how to identify whether an object is a magnet " and there is attached a model answer for the teacher’s copy . The answer given doesn’t quite match the topic . It says like poles attract and unlike poles repel " in the teachers’ copy of the Answers to that experiment . My understanding is that to prove its a magnet , only when repulsion occurs between Two like poles . Attraction between two objects diesnt mean they are magnets as they could be magnetic materials . Only magnets repel z
I am still waiting for their call back -

Hi you may want to talk to the coordinator instead of the admin as most admin are only in charge of the non-academic aspects. Hearing from you, most likely MS’s notes have been recycled for years without any improvement or modification done to cater to the current syllabus. This is not surprising as they are targeting the secondary levels for English and Math. Besides, it is not clear who is the curriculum writer for their Primary Science as well as the other subjects. Could he/she be an undergraduate? -
Hi,
I would like to buy the Mindstretcher P3 science note. Anyone not needing it anymore? Thanks!
