      Hi

My girl is planning to put STC as 1st choice. Any experience to share especially on their oral communication classes? Heard they are quite good. Is that true? How are the leadership programmes?

        Hi,

My gal is P6 this yr, she’s from CHIJ OLQP, they’re affiliated to CHIJ St Theresa’s Convent. My gal thinking to put STC as her 1st choice. But i worry about the long distance from home (jurong area) to STC. Anyone staying in Jurong area currently at STC please share how your gal overcome this problem. Understand that they do not have sch bus arrangement for sec. sch. Thks.

          Hi Everyone,

I guess not many people will read this forum. But I would like to say that I’m very glad I sent my daughter to STC. This is her final year, and she’s had the time of her life these four years. She has done so much - YOG, leadership training, student leader, trip to Laos…etc. STC may not always produce top academic scorers, but I can say that when it comes to character building and personal development, STC produces many well behaved, cheerful and confident girls. Kudos to the principal and the teaching staff. I’ve never seen such a dedicated group of professionals working so hard to bring out the best in our children. It has always been a joy for my husband and I to visit the school for their parents’ events. I will miss those visits once my daughter graduates.

The students would have to take a bus from either Tiong Bahru station (bus service 123) or HarbourFront station.

                Hi…

My daughter just submitted the S1 form listing STC as the first choice (her T-score above COP). I was hesitant initially as distance is a consideration (50min journey door-to-door). After reading this thread, esp cy1’s post, I am supportive of her decision. Just concerned she may be tired out by the journey…

                  Hi BBsDD,

Have you been to this school? Please give some info as I hesitate due to the distance. I am staying at Sengkang what about you.

                    Hi,

Went to the school open house. Quite impressed with the physical environment ( spacious and well maintained/clean). Spoke to a few students there. All sounded confident and spoke very well. Heard the school has very good program in place for student development.

I lived in jurong west. From tiong bahru mrt, I think there are 3 buses to school (121, 123 and 195). Bus journey abt 3 to 5 bus stops away.

I just concerned whether there is enough pressure to push her academically as she is the laid back type.

                      Hi,

My daughter scraped past her PSLE with a score of 180+ and got into the NA stream at STC. There was no doubt about sending her to STC. We made STC her first choice, despite the distance. We were living at Bukit Batok at the time (not near the MRT). It was the only school for us.

By year 3, she was promoted back to Express. The Principal and teachers had done a tremendous job supporting her throughout her journey in secondary school. She did well enough to get into her course of choice at a polytechnic. Her recent exam score had a GPA of 4.0 (straight As and distinctions).

If all goes well, she may go on to a Business degree at SMU.

Sometimes our children may bloom later in life. As long as they are in a supportive environment, miracles can occur. The journey had been hard, but it was all worth it.

Sometimes, we just have to follow what we feel is right. 🙂 We did, and never regretted a single day. Good luck!

                        Hi BBsDD,

Thanks for the information given however we did not put STC as our choices. I know that my girl will have problem going school on time as the travel time required should be more than 1 hour. All the best.
