Kewl…many thanks! Go Rafflesians! -
All right, Girl Guides is pretty close to the scouts syllabus. In Year 1 + 2 they will try to achieve the World Scout Badge + Bronze Badge (Scout Standard). This involves tying knots (Reef Knot, Bowline, Sheet Bend, Sheep Shank etc.) and lashing (Square Lash + Diagonal Lash + Timber Hitch.)
In Year 2 or Year 3 they'll typically receive their leadership appointments and be inducted into COH (Court of Honour). Other than that Guides also have to organize the annual assembly for RGS guides which is like a scout campfire without a campfire.
Guides in RGS have 3 companies (1st, 2nd, 3rd), and each company has 5 patrols.
01 (Orchid, Ixora, Jasmine, Morning Glory, Sunflower)
02 (Bougainvillea, Morning Glory, Sunflower, Ixora, Orchid)
03 (Dove, Kingfisher, Mynah, Oriole, Swallow)
Each patrol comprises of 4-6 people. So in guides there's a lot of space if anyone wants to join.
Don't confuse 01 and 02 with their respective scout troops in RI, there's a lot of difference.Honeyfirebird:
Hi!Edyboy:
Anyone care to share the activities involved in the Girl Guides cca? Is it twice per wk?
I was told the waiting list is pretty long fr this cca... The cca my DD prefer is not in rgs...
I'm not in girl guides but according to what my friend told me, it is twice a week. Every two weeks or maybe once a month (not sure about this) they tie braids. The rest of the time their hair is tied into a bun I think!
I usually just see them learning how to make knots, or lashing wooden structures together. Occasionally the year 3s would also split firewood with an axe. I THINK Year 1s learn the knots, year 2s raise the flag during national anthem, year 4s just pass on the knowledge...
Every batch in Guides is around 20 people? But yes quite a lot of people would apply.
They have patrol groups too with a Year 4 in charge but I'm not sure what they do...
Hope this helped!

Actually, no. As I said, I'm not a guide. I'm a scout. 2 totally different things. Raffles 01 Scout Troop or 2102 Raffles Scout Group, I'll leave that up to your imagination and luck.

Dear all,
May I know how many students will enroll at Rgs 2016 ? Although every school is the good school, I still prefer my girl to have a chance for studying at Rgs.
