RE: Help on english for secondary school kid
I used to teach English to a neighbourhood sec school. When they first came to me, they were clueless about writing a good essay. Slowly, the school will train them so that they will at least pass EL in Sec 4. Very often, they get pretty good grades.
First, the child should work on Grammar. If the child can write an essay without any flaws, he or she can definitely pass.
Next, work on vocabulary. There are plenty of exercises available in the market.
The second part is the comprehension paper. Again, that requires practice. I strongly recommend this assessment book by Marie Yap (if i am not wrong). She gives good tips on how to handle comprehension.
it takes a lot of hard work. Please feel free to pm me if you need more info. I would be more than willing to help
