:yikes: That's a lot of triple science pupils in terms of % right?
In fact, the number of pupils who got into triple sci {8 subjects combination with one humanities (combined) only} is 50% of the sec 2 cohort this year.rainbowie:
Class size is about 38-40.
At upper sec, it is based on subject combination. The more popular combination (eg 3 Sciences) typically has about 40 students at upper sec. All students start off with 8 subjects at Upper Sec. There is no Combined Science. Students will all do Pure Science subjects ie Chemistry, Physics, Biology.
This is tabulated based on the finalised subject combinations offered as shown in the school portal. That is around 75/150 pupils, and should take up 2 O-level track classes for 3 sciences combination.
About 20+ pupils from OL were offered IP this year but only 10+ took up the offer.
Does anyone know what is the estimated % of VS O level track pupils who are eligible for vjc this year? Or the number who has chosen vjc this year?
100% of VS O Level students were eligible to go to a JC. 86% of all the students chose VJC. This year many people are eligible to move from O Level to IP. -
What The:
Hi there, I am a Year 2 VS IP student. As far as I know, boys in my school aren't rowdy. Based on what you are saying, I do not think it is a bullying incident, to me I think they were just playing around. No matter what, our school takes incidents very seriously, except I can't remember the school boys involved in one for the past 2 years. Every Victorian is groomed to be a gentleman, professional and a sportsman. Bullying is rare in the school, and if there is a case of that, the school will be very strict with such issues, students may even be suspended or expelled. However, VS has groomed us so much that even if there are such cases, they will be settled even without a member of staff. The students will settle any problems among themselves. I have always admired this in my school.Need some advice from parents whose DS are in Victoria IP Programme. DS likes Victoria when he went for the Open House and he applied for it via DSA. I am happy that he has a CO for IP programme from Victoria. However, on the day he went for the interview, he saw 2-3 boys pushing a boy onto the ground, and the boy's belongings spilled around him. Then they laughed at the boy, before one of them packed his bag, helped him up and left the scene. I didn't take into heart the incident but because of that, my DS ends up in a dilemma. He then told me much later that Victoria become his second choice and he is unsure if he should choose VS in his DSA School Preference Form.
Ended up I was in a dilemma for a long while before PSLE as well. I do not believe or want a single incident to affect a choice. May I check on the culture of boys in Victoria? Are they generally rowdy (I am quite receptive to that as boys being boys but not physically) or ????
Selection is approaching (24-28 October) so I would like to discuss with DS to make a good choice. He has another WL from an equally good school but the distance is a bit far. So parents whose DS is or was in the Victoria IP Programme, do let me have a feel of your experience of Victoria. Thank you very much.
You do not have to worry about the school just because of this
Will see your son in VS next year

Hello all,
Newbie here. Saw that the 2015 PSLE COP for VS is 248 for O level programme. Would it make sense to "try" VS as first choice if my boy got 245 in his PSLE? -
I understand Victoria school requires students to join a uniform group & a sports. Would this put a strain on the already limited time of students? How do the students cope? Are the uniform group & sport very demanding & result oriented?
The main reason my DS is not putting VS on his list is he has the impression that one needs to be very strong/good in the sport that he join to be able to survive well/gain acceptance. Any comments from anyone who has insights? He meets the COP to the school.
Thks in advance! -
Just one cca will do, not required to do two.

Hi, no worries, only 1 CCA is required. Sports CCAs offer good training and do not expect you to be proficient immediately. If your DS doesn't like sports, he can choose from a range of other CCAs available. Hope this is helpful in his decision.I understand Victoria school requires students to join a uniform group & a sports. Would this put a strain on the already limited time of students?
