Dear fellow parents, as elder son is taking PSLE this year, I am hoping to get some information here for my planning.
There is a parents briefing for P6 next Sat. For parents whose children already gone through the PSLE, does the school share information such as % of students who scored above a certain Tscore, students performance by banding (top classes vs average classes) and so on? I searched school website but only get to know % of passes by subjects and number of students who obtained 4A* which is meaningless. I am sure those who obtained A/A* are students from top classes but I want to know how about the other classes? Historically, is there any possibility that average class students are also able to score well in PSLE?
Despite studying hard, having tuitions and attending school AS, sadly to say, my son is still just an average student. I hope to find out in those average classes, what is the mean tscore? This will help me and my son decide if we should try DSA using sports or bypass DSA and just focus on actual PSLE.
Which are the more popular or common secondary schools that most of the PCPS students go to?
Thank you in advance for your input. -

My child took psle last year and is an average student too. My advice to you is to apply for DSA. We didn’t and we got a rude shock. Pei Chun’s % of top pupils improved but overall express eligibilty dipped. The worst dip is in HCL.
This speaks volumes about the emphasis of the school. If you are not in top class, you are very much on your own. -
Thank you for sharing manemo. From my observation the best teachers are always teaching the top few classes only. If you look at this year P5, it is also the same.
Average students like my son are those that need the most support because top classes students, they will still do well regardless of teachers.
I am worry if he is even eligible for DSA because of his average P4 and P5 results. Now I am trying to help him improve P6 results in order to qualify for DSA. -
I can empathise with you because we were in the same shoes last year…jiayou!
