Thank you for sharing manemo. From my observation the best teachers are always teaching the top few classes only. If you look at this year P5, it is also the same.
Average students like my son are those that need the most support because top classes students, they will still do well regardless of teachers.
I am worry if he is even eligible for DSA because of his average P4 and P5 results. Now I am trying to help him improve P6 results in order to qualify for DSA.
Bepersevere,
I've sent you a PM.
But in general from what I observed, (average of 4 subj @P5 and P6s)
90+ : high 250s to 260+
80s-90s: 240s to 250s
70-80s: high 230s to 240s
60s-70s: 220s to 230s
Its better not to bang on that one time exam to see hope for good result. In fact, i know many who get rude shock like what mamemo said too..so as parents, i think we should be realistic, and hope for the best -
Tnk you muska. I am not hopeful, in fact quite the opposite. I constantly remind myself that he is only from an average class so how good a result can an average student from an average neighbourhood school produce.
Sadly, I see no light at the end of the tunnel so I thought DSA is able to provide some sort of ‘insurance coverage’. However, like it or not, DSA is also meant for students who are strong academically.
For sports, you need at least 80% in order to join DSA. 80% is very high mark for an average student. If he can get 80%, I do not even want to DSA and tie him down for the next 4 years as he should be able to select a reasonable sec sch though actual tscore.
The chance that the average students get selected for DSA round 1 is very slim so if time should be put into other better use is also another big question mark. I guess i will probably just select one sch for my son to try.
Hopefully, parents are able to get more valuable insights from this Sat level briefing. -

If you stay near Lor 1, I highly recommend The Kidz Club at blk 172A !!
Of cos the more popular one is the one across the original school, which need to take school bus as well to the holding site.
