My boy went for abacus(from pcf), phonics (from pcf), math (won't recommend cos i teach better at home) and chinese enrichmentkoppie:
Hi jedamum,
When you put your child there, did you have to send him for enrichment lessons?
Where exactly is this PCF kindy in BB Est Ave 4? which blk?
.
we are very comfortable with the teachers though.
Won't be sending my ds2 there unless he can't fit in to the church kindie that i had registered for him.
It's at block 241. across the road is GentleLove Childcare (sashimi's recommedation
). -
No, it is not a childcare. Just kindie, 3 hours per day. Got morning session (8.30 - 11.30am) and afternoon session (11.45am - 2pm plus - forgot what time exactly). I went there, looked like children there are happy... staffs are very friendly and got nuns to guide the children too.. But I didn't know much about the curriculum..
At first I tried to call St Joseph Church Kindie at upp bkt timah, but both persons whom I spoke with was very unfriendly..
Do you live around hillview too? I am at hume ave.. Maybe we are neighbours.. :celebrate: -

wah jedamum, your boy's PCF have abacus? how old do they start the kids?
so far, my nursery 1 boy at PCF childcare(Sparkletots) only have phoenics...each month only need to add about 22bucks excluding the books and materials.
about the Saturday TV time, I suppose it varies with each PCF childcare. My boy's Saturday programme is art craft / free play among kids of different classes. -
Does it mean that the normal PCF will not have a good syllabus or not such good teaching methods? What is the difference?
Let's not label normal PCF as not good.
PCF is supposed to be affordable kindergartens for the middle and lower income people. They still do teach the basics and whether the teaching methods are good are dependent on the parent's expectations. I guess the premium ones are an option for those who can afford the higher yet still affordable fees for the middle income. I believe they will adapt a higher standard of teaching and curriculum for that increased in fees. Coming from the same brand, the word 'premium' is not without a reason.
Do also note that different premium pcfs may have varying standards too.
I suppose its a case of you get what you pay for. For pp who believe, they are willing to pay $1200 a month for Eton House which may not be neccessary.
But generally,, I haven't heard good things about PCF. Tamarind is lucky that she found a good one for her kids.
Yup, the only good stuff i hear on PCF is from tamarind!

I've had many students coming for extra Montessori Phonics,
Montessori Maths, Creative Writing and Reading & Compre
enrichment pgrms on top of their daily BPMCK. All good kids.
Behave well. Speak well. BPMCK provides the students with what
i observe from my students, the much needed structure for P1 Prepz
and the Montessori enrichment pgrms their parents send them for give
the added boost to give deeper understanding of each.
Parents of my students always share the good stuff from there.
Not once have i heard anything negative abt BPMCK. -

you not by any chance used to work at railmall?
