For more info on home lifts, can check out the Renotalk forums (do a search on lifts), or call up the lift companies (such as Home Lift Singapore) as rules do change with time. My last check was with Meyer Engineering in Nov 2016 and my info may be outdated.

Not mine...dh likes the location location location, but good that u highlighted the flyover and endless noise pollution. Facing Istana? OK I hvn't checked google map! Then that stack is not ideal..was hoping some stacks can see some lush greenery at Botanic Gardens or did I get my bearings wrong?

$700 for good facilities I don't mind, but don't give me an ill-equipped gym and baby pool and 1 miserable parking lot.

OK u've got old folks to consider. No wonder the stairs of Hillcrest Villa were a dampener for u. Then u need to get those with Home Lifts. U can engage a PT helper like most of us do. New abodes don't require extensive cleaning every week, but then again, u are a domestic goddess who cooks and bakes, so...sorry u need a FT helper if u move to a landed or strata landed, as u need to manually magic-clean and mop the staircases and mow your lawn if your cluster house comes with a small grass patch. 😛 iRobots cannot vacuum the stairs.

dh spotted Soleil too, and instructed me to check it out too, but I'm so 'nua' to go to property guru.

Hey u saw Hamilton? Pretty cool too...got car lifts.
Some idiots say it can see Istana's toilets thus need to block the direct line of sight by fins. 😂 no lah, N1 a bit far from Botanic Garden, plus with the fins/blades, zero view.

A friend bought resale Soleil 2 bedder (low floor) at $1.5mil some years back. From the side gate, one needs only a min walk to Novena Sq/MRT. He rented out at $5.5K after collecting keys. Good returns. But again, it's 99yrs! Haiz...

You can also look at smaller projects around Novena, some of them offer good value for money.

Hamilton? Sorry, I have no Lamborghini to show off. Way beyond my budget, won't purposely go & view. And you pay only 1/3 of the price if you cross the road to N1. Actually I am quite fascinated with Scotts Highpark, buyers pay millions with all the windows kissing the wall of another building!

at Hamilton, when wheels run over poop…park inside then we got to mop the (own) floor? landed…you can just throw the water from the pail.

If home lift is important, take a look at the air well or space in the middle of the stairs at Hillcrest Villa to see if it is possible to install a home lift. Some stair configurations go round and round and there is space in the centre for a lift.

Locationwise the good schools at the Bukit Timah belt are unlikely to ever shift away.

There are sthgs I m not clear about. Earlier u mentioned one needs to fork out from own pocket to service the home lifts in a cluster house but isn't such annual servicing under the MCST's purview n drawn down from your mgmt funds?

And under MCST act, I doubt u can anyohow install lifts in the airwell area of a strata titled condo, right? Heard condos need to use the same grilles, canopy and door gates approved by your mgmt coy. Moreover URA forbids owners from creating illegal partitions to sublet to tenants let alone to build a lift. Any illegal structural reconfigurations will be torn down...haha!

Hacking a gaping hole on your level 1 ground to let the lift shaft access your basement requires PE approval, after MCST'S clearance, if permissible at all!! 😓

The lifts are already provided by the developer or the space catered for the developer (there is an air-well going from the basement to the roof garden level) in such projects that I see. According to the agents, the maintenance fees are to be paid from own pocket as the lift is within your premise.

My friends with lifts in their home service it monthly. Am not sure if this frequency is a requirement or prudence on their part.

Such servicing may not be required for stairs lift as I never hear my friend with such lift mention anything about servicing.

I have a question on ducted aircon. Not sure where to post this

                Just curious
I noticed some condos come with hard-to-reach aircon unit concealed within false ceiling.
If I want to replace the ducted aircon, the only way is to tear down the entire false ceiling?
And since already torn down false ceiling, better to change to split unit aircon?
Any other consideration or troublesome stuff to look out for?

Why u want to tear down the ducted aircon? The piping system is different from normal split unit

Sometimes the warranties for new lifts are contingent on monthly servicing otherwise the warranty may be void, hence owners tend to be a bit more diligent in servicing lifts in the initial years when under warranty.

My current home lift does not fall within the ambit of the latest regulations so apart from the annual license check by the PE I am not sure what other servicing requirements are stipulated in the latest regulations.

Just realised I mistook mum sugoku's 'stair lift' to be lift tucked beside the stairs.

If it's this type for the handicapped, then I think it's doable from Basement to Ground flr. No hacking like I envisaged 😛 But provided your staircase is against a wall, or has a non-glass railing!
