if 2A1 needs balloting, i think it's time to set a quota so that those in 2A2 will get a chance :siam:

i read from CNA there are more bunnies registering for P1 compared to dragons...don't know if i read wrongly.
After 40 seats set aside, there is No quota for 2A1.

With 102 vacancies left for Sngs Phase 2A1 :-
Parents registering this year can scrutinise what were the figures, for past years' trend. Zoom into those popular years of child birth, not Tiger year (low birth year).
Rabbit is a very popular year, besides dragon.

If usually less than 102 : no worry

If usually more than 100 : there can be balloting this year under 2A1.

In the event of 2A1 balloting (since there is NO quota set for 2A1) :-
then 2A2 will be bypassed, go direct to 2B phase next.

        Going forward -
To prevent 2A2 from bypassed in the event of 2A1 balloting, do you think should impose a cap on 2A1 ?

That is, after 40 seats had been set aside, then split equally : 50% each for Phase 2A1, another remaining 50% for 2A2. If split equally, to protect 2A2, prevent 2A2 from being bypassed ?

It's within the 30-36% TUR. Could be enough for 2A1 and some left over for 2A2, just not sure if it's enough for the applicants in 2A2.[/quote]

hmm sorry what is TUR? 🙂

For this particular school, the TUR at phase 1 is within expected range. It's usual that it's hot and crowded and lots of interest. What is more important is how many will apply at 2A1 and also what is the distance you are from the school.

Look more likely the fighting ground is at 2A2 more than 2A1

              All the best to both.

If St Nick ballot at 2A1 : then 2A2 surrender, no need to fight anymore. Just proceed to 2B : look for mission schools, continue the fight there.

                Reason being -
quite a number of St Nick parents are Catholics, so even if 2A2 is by-passed when 2A1 ballot, they can proceed to join other CHIJ related primary schools like CHIJ (IJ Toa Payoh, Nativity, Queen of Peace, Our Lady of Good Counsel, Kellock, Katong Convent), or any other Catholic school outside of CHIJ family, eg : Marymount Convent, Holy Innocent, etc that come under 2B.

No need to worry lah !

Even for 4 Full schools like (SCGS, MGS, Catholic High, Maris Stella) :-
Even in 2A1, being Full schools, referring to the past 10 years' balloting trend for P1 registration, these 4 schools' 2A1 also didn't encounter any balloting, why would a NON-Full school like Nanyang primary : worry over 2A1 balloting ?

You only need to worry if one day, Nanyang primary become a Full school. When that day come, Yes, Nanyang primary will very likely to ballot, in 2A1. But, will this day ever come ?

yup...agree with you to be fair to those in 2A2.
otherwise parents are being forced to sign up as alumni just to qualify for 2A1. for phase 1, all younger siblings are guaranteed entry, so nothing can be done, but for phase 2A, it should be split 50/50.

Take up rate (I think) basically it's the number being filled up represented in % over the total vacancy. 30-36% refer to SNGS not the one you looking at.

ohh i tot the trend is 30%....i nearly fainted when i calculate for nyps...think can kiss my 1k goodbye le.
if 1k cannot guarantee a space..seems like next best move is move up the required donation..but i think for nyps..goes up 5k also will have ple willing to put de. :slapshead:
