In summary, Singaporeans before PR in any phase. If there are more applicants than vacancies, then balloting is required and that's when home distance comes into play. -
Hi all, i just started my research on schools after knowing that i should actually start sourcing when my child goes preschool (didnt know abt that until a fren told me recently). My boy was born in 2013 (hope i'm in the right thread). Super duper stress.. hope i can turn back time.. sigh..

Anyway I'm staying at Punggol and have sort of shortlisted some schools which i have heard of:
1) Nan Chiau
2) Holy Innocents
3) Rosyth
4) St Andrew's
Any reviews or comments? How to know if the schools got PV scheme? How to know what are the chances to get in assuming i have or not done any PV? -

You have listed some of the more popular schools, yet none of them are in Punggol :scratchhead:Hi all, i just started my research on schools after knowing that i should actually start sourcing when my child goes preschool (didnt know abt that until a fren told me recently). For the popular schools, some of them don't offer PV scheme and even if they do offer PV scheme, as you are >2km, your chances of securing a place could be very low due to their clan or church affiliation. You can refer to a https://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/article/singapore-primary-1-registration-school-balloting-history/.
If you can't get in via Phase 2A or 2B, your chances for these schools are as good as zero in Phase 2C (unless you decided to move house). I would suggest that you begin your research with the schools around Punggol. -
floppy - Those are the schools which i have heard of. Actually I have no clue of the primary schools in Punggol. I just started sourcing for schools… have been asking ard for advice and also reading info on the schools. I will also look into Punggol schools as well. Thanks for your advice.

Is your child a SC?
Do consider earlier phases:
Parents from previous primary school? 2A
Do you have any affiliated under 2B?
for 2C then you look for Punggol, Hougang and SengKang. if you ask me its a mess and very dense these 3 areas. -
floppy:
Agree with floppy, don't waste your time doing PV in schools not within 1km or max 2km, you may not even get a chance to ballot and would have wasted minimum 40 hours on PV. Anything outside 2km is effectively \"free for all\".

Balloting for a school that's outside 2km in phase 2c is a bit different though. That's only if you choose a school that historically requires balloting only in the outside 2km distance bucket. Because phase 2c doesn't require \"effort\" fr the parents in terms of PV hours, then it's just a matter of luck. -
intruder:
For the popular schools, please try to get into Phase 2B for a better chance. Even then, you should focus on the schools within 2km from your house.Hi all, i just started my research on schools after knowing that i should actually start sourcing when my child goes preschool (didnt know abt that until a fren told me recently).
