All About Church/Clan/Society Membership

zac's mum:
I heard that the Methodist churches will also ask the child himself/herself to be baptized. So the preschooler will have to make a big decision. Whether mature enough or not at that age is questionable. Not sure whether this is a factor in whether the pastor issues the 2B letter. Does anyone know?
Only 1 parent has to be member (and obviously has to be baptised). Of course ideally both parents should become members. The child doesn't have to be baptised to be eligible in Phase 2B. -
Any idea about Anglican church membership for St Margaret’s? Is there a time-frame for becoming a member before P1 registration?

Same process - Parents must be baptised and be a confirmed member to be eligible for P2B. Whole process takes about a year considering time required to register and attend baptism and confirmation classes. The parent need the pastor recommendation for the P2B eligibility after the pastor observation on how faithful the parent. Observation will take a few months. -

But I know the pastor assessment form for P2B does have a section on \"giving\".sidekickasia:

It is somehow being \"enforced\" in the church that my colleague is attending as it's stated in the membership form and names will be written on envelops to \"track\" the regularity of tithes with strong emphasis of one-tenth of what he earns, not sure about those who didn't follow the tithing requirements will be recognized as an official member or not?lil_han_mummy:

Probably different denominations interpret this different? Think it shouldn't be implemented as an open written clause but should be based on conviction and giving offerings based on own will. -

Envelopes are given only for special giving programs, but nobody is tracking our tithing. -
This thread is so helpful, really appreciate all parents replying every single plea of help here with patience.
LO is gonna be P1 in 2022, and my cheque was cleared by SHHK! Yay!
From what I read there's only 2 board meetings a year, when will be the next one be held to accept members officially? Am I still safe? Haha!
To be honest, I'm quite excited to start because the volunteering activities sounds fun.

No one really knows whether you are safe or not. Distance priority will come into play and popularity of the school will also determine whether you get the recommendation or not. If you are aiming for ATS, TNS or NCPS, it is best to plan for back up.
