Hi J2 parents,

my friend's DD is in HCI J2 now. The girl is not so good at Maths and wants to start Maths tuition. She managed to get the contact number of former head of maths department of HCI, from her hwachong seniors.
Thinking of finding a few more students to so can start an exclusive group for HCI students if possible.

The P spoke about this year's A-level results and highlighted some of the 2017's graduates. He gave some suggestions about what parents can do to support the kids to help them transit to college. Also he revealed the:
- SA Assessment Structure for this year for both IP and special programmes
- Sec 4 promotion criteria
- JC placement criteria
- requirement to do H2 subjects
- key events for 2018

To the Sec 1 parents, how are your kids adjusting to HCI? My DS seems very happy and engaged.

My DS enjoys the enriched programs too . There are lots of activities to participate in so one needs to manage his time well. I noticed there is quite a fair bit of team project work - wonder if this is common accross all IP schools or unique to HCI program :scratchhead: ?

There is a lot of group work and pair work. Actually CCA for non DSA Sports kids only started for a week… I wonder how the kids will cope when CCA is in full swing. The workload seems pretty heavy already, though enjoyable.

I'm a new parent here on this forum.

I'm curious to know what are the chances for my daughter, who is taking her O level in a neighbourhood sec school in Sin Ming road, to enter Hwa Chong Institution via DSA. Here are a few of her achievements:

- Vice Head Prefect (Prefectorial Board)
- Head Secretary (St John Ambulance Brigade)
- Sergeant (St John Ambulance Brigade)
- Chief Commissioner Badge (St John Ambulance Brigade)
- Class Secretary (School, class-based)
- 2005 track-n-field national ranked top 16th in 100M B division 100m sprint
- Model Pupil

She has also won various awards in leadership and represented her secondary school in chinese composition writing competition, chinese riddle competition, didn't won anything but represented sch.

Any idea how much is her chances to get into HCI via DSA (JC) - Leadership?

Her academic is just average. Strong in Humanities, weak in sciences.

I need your input on this.

Son went for DSA once, if I've learnt anything, sometimes it's not about how much talent you have but how 'ok' your grades are. Some schools just want to meet the DSA intake criteria without sacrificing their overall academic standard.
