U r right. Weaker students Can choose to drop HCL in P5.
Maha Bodhi offers Higher Chinese from P1 to P4. Weaker students drop to Normal Chinese from P5 onwards. That was my understanding before I enrolled my son in this year's exercise. Perhaps a parent with an existing student there can confirm this as well?wawa_piggy:
Hi,
May I check if Maha Bodhi only provides Higher Chinese or Normal Chinese as a second language for P1 students??
Thanks. -

Yes indeed MBS band is probably one of the best primary school bands in Singapore and potentially outperform some secondary schools too. My kids have graduated from MBS and they started band in primary 1/ 2 though cca wasn't compulsory. They have indeed benefited and are currently still in the band in secondary school & JC. With the training they received in MBS band, they are consistently being graded as strong performers.
Indeed. MBS is very strong in their band.bunnybluey:
Hi everyone, I’m new to the forum. Can I check what CCAs are good in MBS and how much time do they take up? Are CCAs also mandatory? Thanks!
I only know MBS is well known for their band. There'll definitely be extra practices during SYF years, so the children do have to spend quite a bit of time if get into band.
CCAs are incorporated into the curriculum on Thursday for P3-P6, so lessons end at 3.45pm on Thursday. Hence, if the child doesn't take up a CCA, not sure what the child would do during the 2 hours of CCA, would recommend the child to take up a CCA to learn something instead of wasting 2 hours of time. -
Hi, are there any kids staying in Sengkang and taking school bus service? What is the pick up time and drop off time? Thank you,
-
Hi Huimin22, you can call up Maha Bodhi School to enquire their school bus service. However, considering how far Seng Kang is from Maha Bodhi School, your child will need to travel early since the school starts at 7:30AM in the morning.

I think this is standard practice for all SAP schools.

Depends on which part of Sengkang you stay in, but generally speaking, very early. I think the school bus driver mentioned something along the lines of 6.30 am pickup when I enquired last time for my kids, and I stay in Buangkok area (slightly nearer to school compared to Sengkang).
If you can send your kids to school, it'll probably be better, as it takes much shorter time by driving (less than 30 mins by KPE). Even taking MRT is faster (35 mins from Buangkok station to Ubi station, including all walking time all the way to school side gate).
Another thing to take note is, due to the school going on single session this year, I think they have a hard time finding enough school buses and drivers. End result is, some of the drivers are not very reliable. I have experienced instances whereby my kid got left behind in school simply because the teacher released the class 2 minutes late, as well as bus driver didn't even turn up at all for the Thursday late afternoon shift (after CCA), resulting in another poor driver having to help out by sending 1 group home, then go back to school to send 2nd group home. Even after complaining to the school and the school having taken the necessary actions, there were still instances whereby the similar incidents happen. And this doesn't just happen to my kid, from what I hear.
So, my humble opinion is, don't rely on school bus if possible. -

From the school notices, CCA is now mandatory for P3 - P6.
Starting 2019, all CCAs are conducted on Thursday afternoons. Some CCAs may take extra days in school after school hours, e.g. most sports, band, etc. I don't have specifics as I don't let my kids take CCAs that require more than that 1 afternoon per week in school. -
hi,
not sure if its been asked previously, can I ask if anyone knows in the prize giving ceremony at the end of the year, how the sch determine the prize students? like those having the highest aggregate score in each subject will be the prize winner by class or by each level? other than subjects, there will be other prize like character or others?
