Hi all

May i ask if it is allowed to quit CCA at P5? DS mentioned quite a few of her friends quitted their CCA last wk when CCA just commenced. She is hence wanting to quit too. Reason seems to be too much time commitment as sch wants to win SYF so impose on child 2 CCA days and holiday practice esp for P5 and P6. Any comment?
Cca is not compulsory in primary school so yes, you can quit anytime. But bearing in mind, experience in primary school will give the child an edge if she/he apply DSA (leadership) or when he is applying for same cca in secondary school

How do the Sec 1 girls get selected, for MO training ?

Is it because they scored A* in PSLE (Maths) subject, or because they had DSA in, by Maths academic domain ?
All girls have selection written test

My girl’s answer is always she is just plain lucky to get selected. She is the worst of the selected group hence no point going since she won’t get selected for the competition anyway. Worse still, she may not understand what the tr is teaching since those girls are very smart. So why waste time, even though I encourage her there will be no waste of time since there will sure have takeaway points.

DD is selected both for Maths Olympiad training and Chinese Creative Writing class but she is rejecting both! Sigh, I feel it will be good training grounds but she dun like, so nothing I can do. I can’t force her to attend. In primary school, she also reject the E2K class and Maths Olympiad training.

Parents, how can I make my girl be more “self competitive”? To push herself to want to learn more?

Hi I recalled your dd DSA bilingualism? What class was she allocated?
Even DD schoolmates who DSA bilingual seems to be “dispersed” to different classes like 102, 103, 104 and 105.
Class Allocation is out.

You mean for Sec 1 girls next year? Not sure how the classes are allocated in NYGH. Any idea?

Total 12 classes. 1-3, 1-11 and 1-12 are GEP classes.
The sports DSA are 1-2 and 1-6.
Based on past year data, the sports DSA classes average academic results rank bottom among all classes.
When come to Sec 3, no more GEP classes.
That’s for last year right? This year different?
