I have read in some forums that RGS girls were assigned various subject assignments on the same day and asked to hand in by the following day. As such, girls end up with late nights to finish their assignments. Is this true? Parents with girls currently in RGS, are your girls given sufficient time to complete homework? Are your girls generally happy studying in RGS? What do your girls generally grouse about RGS, if any? Thank u!

My daughter was from RGS but has graduated. It did happen that work handed out was due the next day, but usually it wouldn't be the huge assignments. But of course, if it happened on a day when she was already busy (CCA ending late, assignment for another subject also due, etc), then it might entail a late night. My daughter learned early to plan her time well, and she almost always managed to get to bed before 11pm. The bigger assignments were always handed out in advance and the girls had to manage their time to cope. It did happen that several assignments might have the same or very close deadlines, but she generally managed OK.

My daughter loved her time in RGS. She did grumble about the workload sometimes, but which student doesn't, in whichever school they are in? Her main grouse was that there were too many interesting things to do/try, and not enough time to try them all.

Few of their assignments need to be handed in next day. If there are, those are usually simple practice that do not require large amount of time or efforts. Important assignments / projects are usually given ample time - at least a week - to finish. On top of that, the school sets limit on how many hours of homework a student is given in a week. The school also audits the quantity of homework for each class and share this information with parents during PTM.

My elder daughter graduated from RGS last year and is now a Year 5 student at RI. My younger daughter is still in RGS. Searching my memory I couldn't find any serious complain they have against the school. At home the Y5 frequently tells the Y3 to treasure her time at RGS, as students are well taken care of and the school is very much organized around the mission of nurturing young girls.

No-one replying? My daughter was in English Drama until 2015. But then they combined the various language drama groups into a single one. Not sure how things will have changed though English Drama was the largest of the groups. What sort of things do you want to know?

Thanks slmkoo for the reply. My DD did drama nad debate in primary school. I want to know for the drama CCA in RGS, what are the things that they girls do or learn during the CCA. And could you let me know if for Debate CCA is it quite competitive to get in? Apart from these 2, are there any other CCA that my girl can consider that is quite similiar to Drama or Debate? Thanks

Thanks[/quote]I don't know anything about Debate. As far as I recall, the Drama CCA has a trainer who does various workshops etc to teach different skills. I don't know the details. There were a couple of performances each year. Alternate years they take part in SYF. They do everything themselves - scriptwriting, costumes, design, lights and sound etc. and the younger girls learn from their seniors. The standard is pretty good. TIme commitment can be a lot in the few weeks leading up to a performance with many rehearsals, some at night.

Hi, can I enquire is there TKD cca in RGS? Cos there is a TKD club from Raffles Press which claimed representing RGS? Not so sure about the relation cos officially RGS does not list TKD as cca at all. TIA.
