JC or Poly?

This yr results like quite gd for O level - my nephew n staff child done well - range os less than 10 and 11 before
2 points off -
If your chid is easily influence by friends. Go to JC. Going to poly need to have self-discipline, otherwise CMI. And worst, if not scoring top 5% of cohort, will not able to enter Universities. Parents have to come up with cash to go either overseas or pursuing private degree. It all depends on individual n financial commitment. Everything still can be achievable with monetary.

Too good also no good. Means COP going to be much lower for popular JCs and poly courses. This yr results like quite gd for O level - my nephew n staff child done well - range os less than 10 and 11 before

Just curious, it seems like this year batch of O levels did very well, many full distinctions. I wonder whether it will affect COP for JC (or even poly), just like how PSLE cohort performance affect COP for secondary schools? Anyone studied the trends?

Hi sniper angel,
You should have posted latest 2018 admission, not posted above 2017 JC admission cut off point
E.g.
RI COP was 5 points, no longer 4 points as what you had indicated above, because after MOE had cut down or merged JCs from 8 to 4, RI had to take in more students than previously.
You can go to SIS to confirm -
My dd juz got her o levels results,16 pts for L1R5 and 11pts for L1R4 without the 2 bonus points. She wanted to choose the JC route but hardly any choices for her grade, probably juz CJC if the COP is the same as last year. Shld we encourage her to go to poly? But there isn’t any particular course that she like.. probably juz business studies since she will be eligible with 9 points.
