Hello,
May I know if the smtp research paper replaces Project Work? Also, is the idea for the research paper student-initiated or mentor-initiated?
Grateful if anyone can cast light on the questions! Thank you! -
Thank you hazeline...

Covered many things. We get to meet the consortium directors and the form teachers. It was a good overview of the school.

I have a question. Hopefully, someone can enlighten me.
At the end of Year 3 in SMTP a boy gets more than MSG 3, what is going to happen?
TIA. -
If this happens, he can go for re-exams and stays in SMTP as long as his msg is 3 and below.

If after the re-exams, MSG is more than 3, then he goes to the O-level class. If MSG is less than 3 but more than 2, he goes to the IP class. If MSG less than 2, he remains in SMTP.I have a question. Hopefully, someone can enlighten me.

Yes, the smtp research paper replaces project work. The topics chosen will be from a given list and the final choice of the project will depend on the student's academic grades at mid-year. -
Hi CatMoon,
Thanks for the clarification! There’s not a lot I can do and got to let go, but sometimes he still seems so blur to me, maybe only to me, haha. Yes, that’s what my son said too. I just wanted to be sure so that he doesn’t get started on PW too late, which is very time-consuming, based on previous years’ experience. Yes, I believe the smtp students have since gotten into groups and things are moving along already. -
CatMoon:
Haha, CatMoon, I haven't heard about the more than 2 aft re-exams go to IP class scenario... in any case, it should b rare f SMTP boys to go f re-exams. Don't think it had happened in our boys' batch.

CatMoon:
After re-exam, even if the MSG is slightly above 3, most likely he will still advance to sec4 IP. I am speaking from my experience of my sec4 boy. He is in standard IP with MSG >3 at the EOY. Was asked to take 2 re-papers and MSG still above >3 at the end but was advanced to sec4 IP. As it is now, he should be among the lowest in his cohort remaining the IP programme and my concern is how he will fare this year and beyond if his learning attitude remains the same.
