As a whole, I should say Jurong Primary is a fair good school above average. Academically, it definitely can not compare with Nan Hua, Rulang and maybe Westgrove but in par with Keming, Princess Elizabeth, De Lallsa, South View in Jurong, Bukit Batok, Choa Chu Kang and Clementi area.

Their top students scored quite high and they ever produced few national top pupils in early 2000. For the average students, they only performed at average level.

I do agree that some teachers are teaching more & some are teaching less. It happens in most of neighborhood schools. Same for JPS

For the homework, my son’s class only in P6 teachers gave " a lot of" HW. throughout P1-5, according to my son, he could finished all the homework within 1-2 hours so normally we forced him go to bed before 9:30 pm. even for P6, he spent a lot of time on computer gaming.

as I know, top 3 classes selection is only based on result and they will be moved out to the normal classes if they do not performed well. This process is done yearly. For my son’s batch, they only started such selection process since P4. In his P1-P3 years, all students equally distributed into 9 normal classes which I liked mostly. Students and their parents had no stress. I heard now the situation changed: the selection started since P2?

No much difference in the subjects taught for the top 3 classes. Seems they have math enrichment program in P5,P6 for some math competition. For HMT, they had higher chinese suplementry class in P5, P6.

The good thing to put kids in a neighborhood schools is: the expectation of kids and parents is not so high as those star schools so less stress.

        Hi xhxie

        Thanks for the update.

It’s true the selection starts at P2 based on P1 results. I am for it as I think it will allow the teacher to teach the students based on the class abilities.

Hi... I'm new, please enlighten me....

I want to enroll ds to St Anthony primary, because we're catholic.
It means that we can be in phase 2B, right?

But incase ds couldn't passed this phase, I'm thinking to enroll him to Jurong primary in phase 2C. We live just next to jurong primary, it's mean we're in 1km radius. So if there's balloting, we have an advantage, right?

Is it a safe plan or a risky one? I'm worried, because some of my friend said that if I'm not carefull enough, ds may end up have no school to go.

          Suggestion, please.... :?:

          Thanks a lot....

            Astrid,

If u see past years balloting history, ur chances seem quite good as
            1. St Anthony Pri did not conduct balloting for past 2 yrs under phase 2B
            2. Jurong Pri only conducted balloting for those staying 1-2 yrs under phase 2C, meaning u do not need to ballot if u stay within 1km.

Of coz, stats change every year. To make ur plan ‘more safe’ , have u considering doing PV for Jurong Pri? In that case u would qualify for 2B for Jurong Pri, and that would strongly increase ur chance of getting in since u are staying within 1km of it.

For PV, I think it's too late. My ds is in K2 right now... 😞

Thanks a lot Luanee... I feel relieve... 🙂

                  Hi,

Anyone with children in these two schools? How are the teachers in general? Dedicated and caring not? How about the principal and school’s focus? Is it mostly academic or do they also try to build values, character, and heathly lifestyle like sports?

Any take on which one is better of the two?

                  Thanks lots!

Hi All, we stay in Pandan Gardens. There is no school that is within 1km and infact there is none within 2km as well. I am stucked here whereby I clearly know that my son surely cannot get in to Nan Hua Primary School (3.75km). So the only choices left are Fuhua Primary and Yuhua Primary. Based on our distance from both schools (more than 3km and less than 4km) we are surely belong to the phase 2b or 2c. Wondering anyone can advice looking at my situation, do we need to go thru the balloting and what is the chance for my son to study in either of these schools?
