Infocomm is a subject in year 1 and 2 and teaches you scratch,c++,web design and app design if I’m not wrong. If you do well in your exams in sec 1 and 2, you will have an opportunity to be in the science math talent programme classes(SMTP) in sec 3.In hwa chong you will learn more about chinese culture and will help you improve your knowledge in the chinese language, through lessons like appreciation of chinese culture (ACC) and the language elective programme(LEP).If you do well overall in sec 1 and 2,especially in both languages, you will be offered to be in the bilingual class(双文班)。The normal science and math curriculum in hwa chong is quite challenging and will definitely challenge you.
Hope this helps. -
Oh I see thank you for your reply!

Hi All,
My son is P5 this year. May i check if we intend to apply DSA into Hwa Chong with bilingual domain, is there any commitment in Sec 1 and Sec 2?
Will there be another selection test to join the Bicultural Studies Programme (BSP) for those who received CO for DSA Bilingual?
Thank you! -
Does anyone have any good chemistry tutor to recommend? DS in Sec 4, and his Chem teacher seems to be weaker in teaching even tho he has high qualification

With the Term 2 results to be released tomorrow, may I ask experienced parents here, what is considered as a good MSG for Sec 1?
To be considered for special programme in Sec 3, does the school takes into account Sec 1 results?
What is the minimum MSG to qualify for the various special programme in Sec 3?
Thanks in advance. -
The general admission criteria for special programmes is MSG <=2. Depending on which programme, there are additional criterion for the subjects eg for SMTP, to have A1 for both Maths and Science.
Sec 1 is an adjustment year, so personally I don’t think Sec 1 results will affect the placement to special programmes. -
Thanks, myteapot

I think generally speaking, Term 2, Term 3 MSGs are weaker than End of Year. Don’t worry too much - it’s not uncommon for kids to have horrible MSGs and then improve by the end of year. Some kids have to cope with SYF season, sports competition season and the likes.
Criteria for Special Programmes is MSG <2 as the baseline.
Myteapot, is it true that there are a good number of kids who qualify for special programmes, but opt to remain in normal IP? -
Hi doodbug, I have yet to find that out as DS is in Sec 2, similar to yours. I do hope towards the end of the year, the school conducts an insightful brief to the kids on what the various programmes entail before they do their subject selection.
