Need advise as I’m in a Dilemma. I’m currently trying Rosyth Primary under 2A2 but the take up rate is pretty high and we might end up balloting. So if we don’t get a seat, my other choices...

1) nan Chiau Primary (within 1km)
2) St Gabriel Primary (more than 2KM)

Actually St Gab also falls under 2A2 but we went ahead with Rosyth instead.

Would u think we might stand a chance for nan Chiau ? The applicant rates Super high and it’s worrying too.

Hopefully we succeed with Rosyth but gotta prepare for the worse scenario too.
Here’s the not so good news - Rosyth may make up the mind for you.

If you are within 1km of NCPS, you will not be within 1km of Rosyth. Given that there are only 23 places left for Phase 2A2, you may not get a chance at all. Hence, you may be left with St Gab for Phase 2A2 and NCPS for Phase 2C. You may want to wait till the second day to register at Rosyth to save you the hassle of withdrawing and re-applying.

Both Junyuan and Tampines will be safe for us to apply in both 2C and 2CS. Is Tampines better than Junyuan?

None of these schools are safe for 2CS. You may not even get a chance at these two schools for 2CS. You will have to monitor carefully.

I checked the data for these 2 schools again... :yikes: :yikes: up to 2A1, this year TUR already higher than average...this year will not be easy...

Hi Lexy,

Thanks. We figured BTPS is about 15mins drive which we could do school run and go to work. De La Salle seems quite a bit further and would have to be school bus. We did not realise QTS is so hard to get in, might have to explore more. We quite liked BTPS, was just thinking about finding something closer (QTS is 5mins drive). But if it is a risk for PR at 2C, then we might just do BTPS.

I’ll relook the 2B options and see if there are other catholic schools we want to secure first, and then review the 2C situation. Thanks!
Yes, but was concerned about distance. Hence why we considered BTPS or QTPS. We are catholic, but the options seem far from where we live and I think distance plays a impt factor
Given earlier scenario of entering into both SJI + CHIJ TPY (which is equally if not further), I wonder why distance become a concern for de lasalle?

QTS, should be filled with SC. too many developments there and recent years the take up rate is raising.

You are left with bukit merah area like cantonment, gan eng seng, blangah rise or clementi area like Clementi and pei tong and BTPS as you mentioned. If you prefer BTPS over say De lasalle, then i think you can proceed to 2C with BTPS. If you have a preferred school under 2C that may have harder chance like QTPS, you may want to secure a school at 2B first, as a PR, 2C is a fight zone you really want to avoid.

I think i say enough.

Both SJI and CHIJ TPY will be filled up with SC during 2B, do not consider.

Have you considered de lasalle? Co ed catholic school. Both kids can go same school and you can secure during 2B

I used to travel in opposite direction for half a year to send my girl to Alexandra and the travelling time is really no joke. Kid also had to wake up very early before 6am. So do consider carefully for the distance and time taken for travelling.
Thanks for the replies to my earlier queries about TKPS. I am not quoting the thread to save screen space 😛
Wanted to understand the application and withdrawal \"tricks\" in phase 2C.
MOE Website lists phase 2C registration as
Online registration : From 29 July 2019 to 31 July 2019
Registration at school : From 30 July 2019 to 1 August 2019

1) Does this means I have a choice to do online registration or do the registration at school?

2) If can register at school (from day 2), means I can wait till end of day one and check the websites who show number of applicants at end of day 1, to decide whether to risk for my 1st choice or activate the 2nd choice by going to school directly on day 2 or 3.
https://balloting.xyz does seem to have updates per day for this year.
Are there other sites as well, we can follow? Seems calling the school to ask for updates might not work all the time.

3) Can I register for a school on day 2 and based on end of day 2 stats go to the school and withdraw on day 3 and go to 2/3 choice on day 3 itself ? I understand we need to withdraw application before registering for a new school. Is this withdraw and new application process possible within the same phase? or I must wait for phase 2C results and withdraw and register during 2CS

In other chat groups it seems lot of parents are registering and withdrawing easily. So I was wondering if this \"gaming\" the system really works.
Thanks in advance for guidance / feedback.

Withdrawal can be same phase, even same day or next hour. Must bring both parents' ID to submit.

Also dont be fool into thinking its easy, withdrawing and registering is no mean feat. Which parent station at which school? withdraw at 230pm, or 330pm? what is the best route to travel to the next school? will you be on time? during the same time, are other parents doing the same thing?
Thanks Davischew and Lexy for the insights.
I guess I will monitor the number of applicants till end of day 2 and then decide what to do on day 3.
And take leave from office for those days, to make the running around easy.. ha ha

I drove 5 years - another place to another school 12km one way.
Hard life for parents 😂 , you can ask some parents of Nan Hua now, temporary location, one short street already 20 min.

Sometimes is because we have no choice but to go to a further school, if your school downstairs (or around you) is a popular one (which you have no relations or alumni) and need to ballot, you would not want to take the risk if you totally has no backup school in 2CS. Guess most of our mindset, try to go for earlier phase that you are eligible, secure it then decide if u want to risk balloting for a nearer school (which is popular) nearer you.

this year registration rate seems lower. I am wondering what are the chance of enrolling in SCGS (1-2km) as I am currently staying within 1km from RGPS. Of course SCGS is preferred due to the affliation.

May I ask also if we are not able to get in to the preferred school in P2C, do we automatically get allocated to other primary sch in P2CS?

Depending on ur risk appetite, only register on the last 2A2 afternoon so that you can assess if you can even get to ballot for Rosyth >2km and consider to switch to St Gab if you don't want or no chance to ballot at Rosyth.

Again, depending on ur risk appetite, can always try for ncps at 2c but have a safe backup for 2cs.

All the best!

Oh man !!! This is driving most parents nuts.

Worst worst omg scenario if all else fail is Compassvale Primary (2C). Not my choice cos too many PRs .. no issues not biased but my own preference la 😬

If u plan to withdrawing and re-registering, best to go to the school B that you plan to re-register, to personally ask (nicely) with the Admin.

What happened to me last year was the Admin discouraged me at 3pm (last day) from withdrawing from my school A. Because at that point already has SC > 2km need to ballot. She said no point for me to take the risk. Really a heart attack moment not for the faint hearted.

Take note also if your area has a lot of new BTOs flats. As this would be a game-changer.
