Hi… any parent with child in Chr? My son just got in this yr, barely first week and he is really exhausted out. Sched packed with Chingay preps till 11 Feb. After that, he can take a breather. I have to push forward his tuition and piano lessons till chingay is over. Don’t want to over-exert him.

An update. Chingay is just over and my son is already missing it. Whoever's idea it is to have the sec 1s join Chingay, it seems like a brilliant idea to get the newbies to bond together this way. Furthermore, with their 4+1 sch system (mon-thu studies, fri cca day), they really made use of the time for chingay instead of cca. Good for them students to mull over which cca to choose from. At least his Saturdays are free since cca is on fri. Happy child, happy mom. 🙂

          Hi,

My kiddo’s T-score can qualify for Evergreen (225)/ Mayflower (220) but we are very tempted to choose Christ Church (200). We visited the school 2 times and observed the following: mission school, affiliated to JC, very near to future MRT, great campus with facilities normally associated with branded schools, super friendly staff, everything in the school seem super neat & tidy all the way down to how they arrange their flower pots!

However there is the MAIN concern of a lack of academic challenge from classmates who would mostly score well below kiddo’s T-score (which is already not high to begin with). My questions:

          1) Can anybody share if they sort their students base on psle result for Sec 1 classes (in which case kiddo may be in the best class)?
          2) Will they stick to the same class for both Sec 1 & 2 or will there be sorting at the end of Sec 1?

I missed asking these 2 questions during their open house and their teaching staff seem to be on leave now.

Also, is there anything else you can share about this school?

          Thanks in advance!

            Hi!

Not so sure abt the sorting outs, so can’t help u on the 2 qns, but my son sure is happy there. And yes, the location is a plus. Everything is just within reach. And their PSG is quite good. Super on. Most sec 1 parents who partake in Chingay will somehow be included in a parents’ grpchat. Good to be able to interact and share abt the going-ons in the sch without having to always ask my son. And the teachers are approachable.

So far so good. Teachers are dedicated and with psg, even better to communicate and get updates. Every yr camp (it seems), 4days study + 1 day cca per week, chingay participation for all sec1s. My boys are now in s3 & s1.

What are the strengths of this school apart from the affiliation to SAJC?

This is a good school that produces good O level results despite it’s T-Score of 207. Teachers are caring and in Secondary 2, students have a program called subject taster programme which helps students to decide what subject combination they want for Upper sec. Strict attire check and also caring and helpful teachers.

Passing rate for O levels is higher than national average, Physics department is good.
