Hi there, i am also wanting to get my son into St. Gabriel’s for year 2020.

however, i am only moving closer to the area this month. so how does it work?
i can only get my NRIC address changed mid july, but i believe the online system will not reflect my new address so soon. friends advising that i should register directly at the school with my new address reflected on NRIC for phase 2C.

St Gabriel haven't been balloting for SC in Phase 2C for the last 8 years. Highly doubt there will be balloting for SC this year as well. You will probably be fine using any address.

Nonetheless, if you are concern and want to play it safe, you can use your new address, provided the new address is < 2km from the school. If you intend to use the new address, you will need to provide the documentation required for verification depending on whether it's a new or resale property. See MOE FAQ.

Please take a look at the discussion at the 2019 P1 registration thread. Somebody had the same qn as you. I paste here for your convenience:

Parents, received the notification from MOE stating below:
Address reflected in the P1-IS is the official residential address on both parents’ NRICs as at 31 May 2019. If the address in the P1-IS is different from that currently on your NRIC, please approach your school of choice with the required documents to register your child.

We can still register at the school if NRIC address was updated before 3 July 2019 (start of P1 registration) , is my understanding correct?

The answer is yes, u gotta walk in physically to register with your updated NRIC. Online database will not reflect your latest updated address.

P1-IS refers to the online registration portal. That database was probably updated/synced with the official NRIC database on 31 May 2019.

Therefore, if your NRIC is updated after 31 May 2019 (but before 3 July 2019), you have to register in person, face to face at the school. That’s what they mean by approach the school of choice. Walk in personally to the registration counter so that the staff can key in the address manually & override the default address.[/quote]
