Maris Stella High School

I have a ds who graduated last year.
Vs dd’s school (who is 1 year older), I felt that MSHS didn’t do as much. Eg. dd’s school would have study nights prior to O levels but I really don’t see this in MSHS. I also felt that it’s not as academically driven across the entire school population (let’s not talk about top classes only). In addition, despite that both schools are into technology, I see dd having much better skills vs ds through use of her device for projects, presentation, etc… (I was able to ask her to help me to develop powerpoint slides for my business purpose). Ds on other other hand has definitely underutilized his macbook and made me wonder what did they learnt or do with the macbook after all these years??? OK… it doesn’t go to waste as he uses it now after MSHS for project work.
Yes, some boys are really motivated and do well and graduated with stellar results… Unfortunately for us… ds was a wild card. So much so that we didn’t know what to expect for O levels. I was preparing for the worst that he probably can’t make it to poly. I couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. But to be fair, only the academic and self-driven piece was a concern, ds was generally well-behaved and didn’t give us any behavior issues (only the typical teenager mood swing) but otherwise he is good. I suppose this is also driven by the peer influence which in this case was positive in MSHS.
As we collected his O levels results, I really didn’t know what to expect. Fortunately for him, his score allowed him top poly courses choices … and he has chosen to pursue the JC route (he could make pretty decent JC choices too). So looking back, while it was not a smooth sailing journey in his case, he turn out pretty decent overall. -
Hi parents, I am considering to enrol my ds in 2020. May I know if non-uniformed CCAs are usually held on Saturdays? Can advise. Thanks.

They are usually held on CCA days, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 2:30pm.

Hi, my son got 243 in the recent PSLE and we are keen to put MSHS as first choice. Given that the COP for 2018 was 237, can I safely say that he will definitely get a place ? Also, I would like to get 2nd hand sec 1 TB from any parents here. Finally, are students randomly allocated a class or is it according to their Tscore ? Thanks.

With a score of 244 and putting MSHS as my second choice, will he stand a high chance too? MSHS is an affiliated sec sch, will most students take up the places before the reserve of 20%.

Affliated students in MSHS take ard 30% of spots only. unlikely to reach the reserve 20%. with 244 is very high chance of entering

As shared by another MSHS parent, this school is not acad driven.

JC eligibilty over the years always between 87-89%. Not bad but not impressive.
2018 results shown in web site.
Previous years in MSHS Facebk.
Its a waste to put MSHS with 244.
100% in.
Do consider better SAP sch (alpt order)
- CCHM
- NC
- NH -
We have placed Nan Hua as our 1st choice though short of 1 point. Location and convenience is another consideration. NC is too far and CCHS is my 3rd choice (seems v v chinese focus).
