Hi,
My dd has done well such that he is able to opt for HCI. I'm happy for him but I'm worried about the journey to and fro school every day for the next 6 years. We are staying in Jurong West and he can also choose RV which is so much nearer. However he is so firm on his decision. I told him the pros and cons and he needs to learn to be responsible for his own decisions.
But still I am worried if he is able to cope with more subjects, long travel time and a fiercely competitive environment compared to his primary school.
Parents, do you have any advice or stories to share. Thanks
If after trying out the long journey to HCI and understood the implications of being in a fiercely competitive environment, he is still firm on his decision, go for it. Don't live with regrets

Asking for my colleague.
Is 250 or 251 the top 10% T-score (for Jap/European third language eligibility) this year? -

Btw, did you travel with him from your house to HCI and get him to feel it physically?
Let him choose his dream school. He works so hard for it. If you force him to choose RV, he will blame you if he is not happy in the school.meowmama\" post_id=\"1949559\" time=\"1574742740\" user_id=\"19268:

Not forgetting if the scenario is having a heavy school bag or sometimes raining days for the next 6 years. -

Thks for the adviceπ
I would suggest that you include a school with a past year COP of about 5-7 points below your dd (253+2) as the 6th choice. This is for safety purpose, although unlikely, in case somehow the COP of the schools that you listed go up by 3 to 4 points, you still have one to \"catch\" your dd.Timmei13\" post_id=\"1949541\" time=\"1574740468\" user_id=\"105653:
My dd got 253+2, she prefers IP.
Is our choices too risky?
Nanyang 258
DHS 256
Cedar IP 253
TJC 250
SCGS IP 252
Cedar O 250 -
Hi, I am new in this forum. Heard that I can get some advice from expert here.
My ds got 249+1, we stayed at west. Looking at the COP, she is at the border line to get into IP. Any advice on the choice of school?
Our selection
1.RV 2.NH 3.ACS 4.BP 5.FH 6.CT
Above selection ok? In fact we worried he is at bolder line for IP, will it be too stress for him? TQ -

if u r worried abt stress, then RV might not be suitable. Becos i heard tat RV has weekly and/or fortnightly tests for various subjects.

For those scoring between 235 -250.
Will strongly recommend Xinmin Secondary (XMS).
Especially for those staying north east area.
Serangoon,Hougang ,sengkang and punggol.
Smaller cohort of only 4 Express class which is 130-150 students.
As compare to full Express stream school of 240-300 students per cohort.
Xinmin secondary is an autonomous school.
High % eligible for JC.
2019 90.36%
2018 93.8 %
2017 91.7%
2016 93.8%
Which compute into 1 in 10 Express stream student qualify for JC.
Another significant factor is XMS offers triple science class. Which greatly enhanced
Students chances entering JC science stream.
Note: XMS is among few autonomous schools that offers triple science. -
