Was looking at the packing list for the orientation camp. The boys do not have to pack a set of uniform for the camp?
Hi Steffi88,
I am also wondering about this as I did not see any mention of the set of uniform.
There's only 2 sets of PE and 1 set which they wear on day 1 of camp.
1) Does this mean that this year's investiture does not require them to change to their uniform for the event?
2) Can they wear their pri sch pe t-shirt? I was thinking wear already after that , can discard.
Any other Y1 parents to advise? Thank u! -
Hi Ellybelly
Also on reporting day, the vp specifically said to bring 3 sets of RI PE and 1 set of pri sch PE. However this 4th set of pri sch PE was not mentioned in the packing list. So i assumed they are supposed to use it as the sleeping clothing. -

Hi. From my understanding, they will be wearing PE attire to school on 6Jan. In their haversack they will have 2 sets of RI PE attire n 1 set of Pri Sch PE attire. I will also be packing 1 set of uniform in. I believed that they will be wearing it to the investiture. š

And just to check if they are supposed to bring laptop to school? Cos in DS Pri sch, he had to bring his laptop 3 times a week. Thanks -

Class allocation is out in Stamford14.
When do RI usually announce class allocation? You need class before you can access gotopass? Thank you.
You can log in to check. -
How many classes are there?

Something interesting for new Rafflesians to read.
http://www.ri.edu.sg/highlights/story/a-survival-guide-to-year-1-in-ri
First the bad news ā¦
\"Coming into RI, you would have already anticipated that it is quite a stressful and competitive environment. I take no pleasure in informing you that you are completely right! \"
Now for the good news ā¦
\"Nonetheless, there is a silver lining. Your suffering is shared with all your peers, and so are your notes. Exams may be tough, but expect seniors to pass down notes, expect the smartest kid in class to help some of the weaker students and expect your peers to invite you to collaborate and conquer the exams together. Friendships in RI are formed in the crucible of exam suffering.\"
Anyway the above is just for casual reading and may not be reflective of all students. While my boy can attest that most of his seniors and peers are helpful to one another, he's not unduly stressed mainly bcoz he's comfortable with his place within the school (no, he's not those top calibre students who regularly get invited on stage for prize-giving but he's okay with it). -

Personally I feel that there's no need for this. The school has a practice of inviting the Y1 parents for a briefing in the early part of the year where parents will be segregated based on their boys' classes. That's when class level WhatsApp groups are formed.
Hi,
Is there a level chat for y1 parents? thanks
Anyway from what I gathered, most of the time those WhatsApp groups are dead silent (like mine had less than 10 msgs per year after the initial excitement died down). In any case, when our boys enrol in RI, that's a good time they start to take ownership of their studies (if they haven't already done so). I told my boy it'll be so embarrassing for me (and him) to seek any clarification in the parents WhatsApp group when he is old enough to clarify his doubts from his peers himself.
