Aiya, ever since I joined KSP, you have been a big fan of CCS.
Stop picking isolated comments like JadedFox. I think you can do better. DORSCON was already used in 2009. Were you still working in 2009? How can you not have heard of DORSCON? DSTA should know DOSCON better than anyone else. MHA should also know DORSCON, right?
I don't understand why it is so difficult to understand that the precious masks must be reserved for the frontliners. It's commonsense. That was so in SARS 2003 and H1H1 2009, and will again be so now.
What's the point of criticising CCS time and again? You want to bring down Singapore by shaming our leader, is it?
As far as I'm concerned, he is not my MP and he will still reappear in parliament again as he has a lot of supporters from the Hokkien peng group, unions, party and grassroots orgs.
So deal with his beng-ness and code-switched English and move on.
You think by my single post, I can bring down Singapore?
It is not difficult to understand that limited, precious masks must be reserved for the frontliners. Then just communicate this point clearly to the public, don’t keep assuring that the stockpile of masks is enough to last the population for 6 months. Next time who will believe you?
Don’t give us 4 masks per family and then talk the “hard truth” of taking a gamble behind our backs. Today, the masks and hand sanitizers my family is using are NOT from the govt, they are from my good friends who imported them from elsewhere.
Maybe I am more vocal but I am definitely not the only one feeling upset upon hearing what the minister said. NS talk, some would say, like how an officer would talk to his men, uncouth and condescending but not appropriate for a statesman.
Hope this serves as an important lesson to other aspiring statesman, think before you speak, don’t get too carried away, you never know who is recording your conversation. -

Yes agree. Good lesson to learn for kids about using information. Have good judgement skills. I wanted to share w my kids too, can also learn macro econs, intl trade, etc.Nebbermind\" post_id=\"1964143\" time=\"1582166523\" user_id=\"15571:
Actually, at first I thought it's common sense too.
Then hor...after finding out that CCS had to explain the rationale of \"rationing\" to business leaders in such detail, I started to accept that it doesn't come naturally to most people.
Has it got to do with my observation of some highly educated people have poor critical thinking skills (something wrong with our education system)?
This COVID episode presents itself good opportunities to share with older kids about the meaning of 'information' and how one must read from multiple sources and preferably from multiple languages and learn how to discern facts from fiction before forming an opinion (and thereby course of actions) for self.
My girl said the biggest problem with the Japanese is most of them do not read or listen to news other than in Japanese and so their world vision is narrower/limited in that sense.
But concern w too much singlish for p5s so i did not.
No G in the world is perfect, but i prefer our G, we r rich but we dont be sucker to pay high price for such if we how to manage what we have. A bit like parents do when we had to decide what's best for our kids and family if we had to choose or prioritise.
Drastic situation calls for drastic measures.
I did not and cant read/listen well in cantonese or chinese. -
Great initiative by National Junior College.. Teaching students to be resourceful, creative and self-sufficient by putting knowledge into practice
“Instead of worrying, why not figure out solutions together?”
With that in mind, National Junior College Singapore’s Vice-Principal and one-time Science teacher Mr Harman Johll rallied his team to create ‘school-made’ hand sanitisers for each class. The team used materials that were already there in school – in the labs and left over from other projects. The lesson for students: Be resourceful, imaginative and, most important, apply what you’ve learnt in Science class! Students were also taught that hand sanitisers are a secondary measure – hand-washing with soap is still the most effective way to protect ourselves.

The bzmen/leaders are not stupid, just like all Sporeans aren’t. But when in crisis, we all ran to protect our own brood (family, properties, bz viability...) that we don’t look at the big picture & where the guardposts shld be (not homefront alone but all gantry posts) and we don’t see all the connections but only those tt were nearsight, as the national/Int’l/WHO leaders need to check for key source & sub-sources of infections to stop gap & who will be there to help segregate the deadly viruses if we don’t preserve our key & knowledgeable medical frontliners. Other frontliners are just impt, tho they may not be leaders (our taxi drivers, cleaners, security personnel, ...

The rest of us just need to listen carefully where these resources need to be prioritized. I didn’t realized how short we can be of masks or thermometers. Why then the leaders hv to caution our wise use, until I travel out & realized shortages are everywhere & most needy in China & Wuhan. I began to learn how to keep myself reasonably safe in view of resource shortages by being responsible to myself, my family & my community. Guess we’re abit like the patriarch holding limited resources & allocate accordingly & yes, wld probably ‘favor’ the more able in hope that he can bring the brood to a higher level when other members hv perceived inabilities. S’times, Human behaviour is such the middle child syndrome & the ones not getting the ‘perceived most’ will kick up fuss, oppositional and throw tandrum. I see it even in my own elderly. Some just don’t see the big picture no matter how much you do for their best interests.
S’times it’s so discouraging, I’ve to let the tandrum continue & walk off till somehow they realized you were always caring & hv their interests at heart. But walking off is painful for me, coz I want to be there for my elderly at their every needs. I wonder if our leaders feel discouraged after explaining exhaustively, after spending late nights reading & u’stand’g this new monster of virus hitting the world, meeting long hours to direct resources, etc. I wonder where donthey find the strength & motivation to keep going till stroke strikes their health, white hair or no hair starts showing? Is it worth it? It can’t be done without a calling to serve more than 100s, 1000s, millions of differing voices & needs.
I learn not to point fingers. I learn to be part of the community & ppl are part of my skin for w/o them, I’ll be I an island by myself. I learn to do what I can even if a kind word to a stranger Grab driver, who isn’t a stranger coz he’s my kind driver ferrying me or family to our destination. We all in this together. So, I hope to be a positive part of community. No an empty sounding gong. Hope :xedfingers: -

Actually I am impressed with how resourceful Singaporeans are!!
But need to manage your expectation that they are not pre-crisis price hor. Given the global run on them, it will likely be a while before supply and demand goes back to equilibrium.Coolkidsrock2\" post_id=\"1964119\" time=\"1582160125\" user_id=\"48901:

past 2 days checked some stores still dont have have mask..so good to hear that! no need be too stinge on mask going forward.
When SG ran out of stock for masks and hand sanitizers, for two of my friends, one of them imported masks from Indonesia and another one imported hand sanitizer from Australia, and willing to sell to needy ones like me at cost price!
It is also heart-warming to see some kind souls leave a bottle of hand sanitizer inside the HDB lifts for neighbors to use![/quote]Agreed. As well as people who do not stock up more than necessary \"so that those who need it more can have\".
Despite the scarcity, we are also always reminding our extended family, friends and colleagues that we have some masks or sanitizers and let us know if need. -
DS says today on the bus, he figure 3 out of 5 masks were not wore properly.
If people are concern and not wearing mask properly, they are wasting the resources and $.
We could do our part by reminding each other.
Saw preschoolers also wear masks signs of parents paranoia, but I think it don’t fit well or children feel uneasy with the mist they re-breathing in or they pull it down to breathe better.
I only wear when I’m going into confine places for longer than half-hour and avoid as much as possible going to such crowd, it is really stuffy and u r breathing ur own carbon dioxide. Walk more under the sun in the park and worry free from virus under the sun.
Actually, the science of surgical masks are not meant to protect the wearer from others - it is intended to protect others from the wearer.
Stay calm, do exercise, enjoy sunshine, eat more multicolor fruits and vegetables for better immunity.

at least around 10% in many places. Not surprising coz businesses will be hit somehow. Many things will 断货 in the coming months so there will not be anymore regular income from the sale of these items. The books still need to balance if you donch wanna close shop...can't blame them
