So it seems Term 3's progress reports are out!
Can the more seasoned parents share what a good GPA is expected to be and what the impact on choosing subjects for Sec 3 is if any?
😜 (Not an RV parent but) To start the ball rolling, afaik Y1 results are considered if you want to take up Accelerated/ Advanced subjects in Y3. For these, besides Y2's performance, the school also looks at Y1 overall grade, especially the relevant subjects' performance (~75%). Otherwise, Y2 at ~65% seems a decent+average subject grade for the general subject combinations. Does your child incline towards science, humanities, aesthetics, languages?

Hello, I'm a current JC1 student, and if your child wants to be able to take almost every subj combi they want in Sec 3, then a good aim would be GPA 3.2 as that is usually the criteria for combis like triple science and triple humanities! However I believe they can try appealing if they want a triple sci/humanities combi and are only about 0.1 off + they are strong in the subjects they want to take in the triple combi. If they aren't aiming for a triple sci/humanities combi then GPA 3 is a very comfortable GPA to have.

Do most students take 8 or 9 subjects (excluding CID)?

My batch had 1 pure triple humans class and about 5 triple sci classes, 1 bicul class and the remaining 5 were double sci combi classes. I think it just depends on what subjects you'd prefer to take and whether you think you can handle the extra subject!

                      Hi

Wanna ask parents of RVHS, any recommendation of good enrichmt centres that cater more to RV syllabus?
Wanna check if triple science is very tedious to take if able to get in?
                      Thank you

If your child wants to take triple science , the time table would be longer than double sci classes. If he/she is interested & strong in science, then it should be still manageable.
