my DS is in CHS year1 this year and there's 9 classes in year1 (I didn't check how many for the other levels)
there's 5 class IP and 4 classes OP.
They are all placed according to their strength, eg. he is in the class with all strong in Mathematics and Science. There's another class strong in languages (bilingualism), leadership, etc
I did heard my son told me about few boys he know were DSA in via Sports (have both in OP and IP). So I guess the school assess the kids on their academic ability too.
Hope this info is helpful.deardear07\" post_id=\"1989469\" time=\"1596616240\" user_id=\"1429:
It’s mentioned in CHS DSA website that they have both Sports (IP) & Sports (OP). I doubt that there is a Sports (IP) class. It is likely that they are mixed with other IP boys.
Oh!! Thanks! But then it’s abit confusing when the tr mentioned sports only for OP... if there r indeed 1 IP and 1 OP sports class, that means that there might be so many boys to fill those classes? Do they take in so many students under sports? I saw they only have 10 sports under DSA.. -
Thanks Coast!
Think clear for IP… might be mixed with other IP classes. But for OP, have enough to form a class of them? Even if not 40, have 30? So many? Or even lesser?
What if the OP DSA students also scored around the COP, will they still join the sports class or mixed with standard OP classes? -

Hi hanhui,
Hi deardear07,
Sorry for the late reply as I missed out on your question. Yes, Malay language enrichment was done in house during the curriculum hours. If I'm not mistaken, is an hour lesson weekly.
My son was in the O level track, so I'm unsure if the IP students have this prog too. You may check with the school again during the open house in Nov to confirm if they are still offering the enrichment class to the Sec 1 boys. During my son's time, it was a compulsory subject to take.
As for your other question, the boys from DSA sports will be allocated in a class together regardless of their PSLE score. Hope it helps;)
For the O-level designated Sports class inside Catholic High,
do they put MEP (Music Elective programme) students into the same Sec 1 class, together with the Sports students ? -

I'm sorry but not too sure about the MEP students, i only know during my son's time, all the DSA sports students were allocated in the same class:) -
Hi, can someone share if the sport class boys are ok in terms of behaviour? What is the general dynamics of the students there? Or v rowdy kind? N their studies ok? Since DSA, does CHS take in even students scoring v low 200s? Or only those who have a better average?
-
Hi all I would like to ask if the sports CCA take in students who are doing the sport recreationally or they only take those who have trained competitively?

Any comments on EJC being which tier? Scores pretty low..
Hmm, I have always had the view that for longer term planning for better students would be OP in tier 2 boys' schools like CHS. At least if you do well in O Levels, u r not stuck with tier 2 or 3 JCs like Eunoia JC. There is still chance to do A Levels at RI, HCI or VJC. -
Any comments on the DSA sports class? What kind of opportunities are they given, apart from the CCA.
Any chance at getting into the talent programs or leadership roles etc if suitable? Or are they only pushed to excel in cca?
What is the academic support given for this group? -

The seniors I know who DSA via sport to CHS.. their PSLE T-scores were 258 - 24x... and most received sportsmanship awards and Eagles awards. -
Hi all!
Thanks for all the generous sharing on CHS. I’m excited to share that my DS has been offered DSA IP entry to play for the concert band.
Does anyone have any insights to share on the band as a CCA? What are the most sought after CCAs in CHS? 😅
Alternatively, we can try to come in via PSLE route but need not be bound to the CCA.
Many thanks!
